The Workshop – Pokedex 5e (Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur)

We’re taking a bit of a diversion from my usual writing in order to chase down something of a whim that struck me the other night in regards to developing some 5e stat blocks for various pokemon for use in your games. The full project would definitely be an ambitious one, and so I make no promises towards a full development of even a single generation. Instead, I plan on highlighting some of the more interesting creatures that I feel could make for fun encounters in your 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons games. In this inaugural edition we’ll take a look at the first 3 entries in the 1st Generation Pokedex: 001 Bulbasaur, 002 Ivysaur, and 003 Venusaur – the evolutionary line of one of the three starters in the game that launched the series. I opted to turn these three monsters into something of a tank with a powerful regeneration ability in sunlight as well as defenses against being tripped or moved while working in some of the classic attacks they learn throughout these stat blocks.

  1. Very nice! I look forward to more entries in this series (assuming I don’t start working them up myself…)
