Welcome to the HoloNet Uplink, citizen. This series focuses on Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars Roleplaying Game, with content aimed mostly at the Gamemaster. Threats, adventure seeds, rules supplements, and more are all to come for those who access The HoloNet Uplink.

I hope you all (can I say y’all? Is that like, your thing America?) enjoyed my two-for-one patrol trooper and speeder bike combo last week. That made me think, if I’ve got someone to do the chasing why not provide something for them to chase? Hence today I offer the M-68 landspeeder of Han Solo fame, and some street racer stats that I hope get your repulorlifts roaring.

M-68 Landspeeder

Compact but powerful, the M-68 landspeeder from Mobquet Swoops and Speeders is a staple of Corellian street racers. Marketed to youth, most M-68s quickly gain aftermarket upgrades from souped-up engines to racing steering wheels and aerodynamic spoilers. Easily accessible components and standard construction make the M-68 a favourite for overcharged upgrades. Large air intakes and exposed cooling fans provide this vehicle’s repulsorlift with ample tolerances for modification. The demand for upgrades is not solely filled by Mobquet itself, but also by a thriving salvage market from wrecked racing speeders. Scavengers have been known to pick crashed speeders clean in some street racing circuits, even minutes after a crash.

Street Racer [Rival]

Favoured by thrill-seekers chasing the most exciting challenges, street racing is a far cry from the highly commercially and heavily regimented formula racing held on closed courses. Motivations for street racing range from the thrill of rule-breaking, a venue for showing off modified vehicles, to simple freedom from entry rules and regulations for legal races. Officially outlawed by the Empire due to safety concerns, Imperial authorities will generally only respond to illegal street races where Imperial property or personnel are at risk. In those areas, the street racing underground uses stolen comlinks and frequencies to provide early warning of incoming security forces. While most racers prefer to quickly vacate before security forces arrive, a daring few relish the chance to test their piloting skills against the likes of Imperial patrol troopers.
