Try Before You Buy – Free Official Mutants & Masterminds 3e Content

©2020 Green Ronin Publishing, LLC.

“Try Before You Buy” is an occasional segment of Astral Projections. It spotlights free (or nearly free) supplements, quick-start rules, and modules for various RPGs.

After looking over a couple of Astonishing Adventures (Green Ronin’s series of $5 Mutants & Masterminds 3e modules) as part of “Try Before You Buy,” I decided to do more looking around the Green Ronin (GR) website and found a lot of FREE official M&M offerings. In addition to a quickstart and some modules, there are a lot of preview materials from various sourcebooks. All of them are PDFs. Where I am familiar with the soucebooks or modules, I have included some short comments. (Apologies for the large number of links. I try not to go link-crazy, but I wanted you all to be able to get to whatever catches your eye without having to search.)

FYI: “My Try Before You Buy” for Netherwar is here and for The Reign of Cats and Dogs it’s there.

M&M 3e Quickstart
(A very limited quickstart–8 pages with basic combat rules, stats for 1 hero and 1 villain, plus an encounter for them.)

Emerald City Knights. (Full campaign costs US $9.95. Designed to bring a PC team together. I’ve read it and ECK goes from city to cosmic and back.)

Time Traveler’s Codex. (GR offers several previews, plus bonus material, for their latest M&M sourcebook, which is $22.95, PDF.)

Threat Report. (Most of these are villains but there’s a few NPC heroes. GR almost always has a handful on offer, free. Other individual Threat Reports are $1.95 each. Compilation: Book $29.95 or PDF $15.95)
Free Threats as of this writing:

Gadget Guides. (Other individual Gadget Guides are $1.95 each. The compilation PDF costs $16.)

Adventures (Holiday themed–2 Halloween and 1 Christmas.)
