The Workshop – The Artificer’s Bench

Inspiration can strike in the funniest of places. At the beginning of this month, I took a trip with my girlfriend to Colorado for her birthday. It was my first time in the state (I stood on top of a 14,000 foot mountain peak!) Growing up in the great bowl that is Eastern North Dakota, I was enthralled with the terrain out there and fell completely in love with the area. However, the inspiration for this post came on the drive home while we were passing through Wyoming. I was taking a turn behind the wheel and felt the sudden urge to answer nature’s call. Being that we had just passed through the sizable town of Torrington, I was tempted to turn back around, but then saw a sign on the side of the road for a crystal and rock shop (aptly named the Torrington Rock Shop). Knowing my girlfriend to have some hippy tendencies, I nudged her awake and pulled off to this small little house that also served as the storefront to take care of my business and to take a look around. And while we were poking through what they had to offer, I noted that several of the things that they had for sale sounded like items from an RPG. And so I decided that I would make them into such, noting their names for later.  Four of the below items are from that very shop. The other one comes from stopping in one too many truck stop bathrooms and drying my hands. I’ll let you suss out which ones are which. 😉
