The Workshop – Pokedex 5e (Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree)

The idea quickly grew beyond its initial idea of just doing a few Pokemon. If you enjoyed it, keep your eyes peeled for future news. In the meanwhile, so as I don’t bug you all with more months of this stuff, we’re going to do a send-off of the series on this particular site with one of my favorite Gen I evolution lines – Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree. This was my first time dealing with stat blocks for several creatures that were not meant to be combat threats while still making them somewhat unique. Butterfree ended up being the stat block that made me smack myself in the forehead when I remembered that innate spellcasting was a thing.

  1. I think you maybe misprinted Caterpie’s speed — it climbs faster than it walks, which suggests it should just climb along the ground.
