Rogue Squadron- Juke of Naboo

Welcome to Rogue Squadron, pilot! In this series, we will be looking at different squadrons you can fly in Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing miniatures game. We give you the squad, what expansion pack all of the upgrades come from and then give you the lowdown on how best to fly it. Strap in and get ready to fly.

All Wings Report In

Naboo N-1 Royal Starfighter “Ric Olie” (N-1 Expansion Pack) (49ts) (I5)

While you defend or perform a primary attack, if the speed of your revealed maneuver is higher than the enemy ship’s, roll 1 additional die.

Full Throttle: After you fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver, you may perform an Evade action.

  • Talent- Juke (Wave 1): While you perform an attack, if you are evading, you may change 1 of the defender’s Evade results to a Focus result.

Naboo N-1 Royal Starfighter “Anakin Skywalker” (N-1 Expansion Pack) (48ts) (I4)

Before you reveal your maneuver, you may spend 1 Force to barrel roll (this is not an action).

Full Throttle: After you fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver, you may perform an Evade action.

  • Talent- Juke (Wave 1): While you perform an attack, if you are evading, you may change 1 of the defender’s Evade results to a Focus result.

Naboo N-1 Royal Starfighter “Padme Amidala” (N-1 Expansion Pack) (56ts) (I4)

While an enemy ship in your Forward Arc defends or performs an attack, that ship can modify only 1 Focus result (other results can still be modified).

Full Throttle: After you fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver, you may perform an Evade action.

  • Astromech- R2 Astromech (Wave 1): Charge: 2. After you reveal your dial, you may spend 1 Charge and gain 1 disarm token to recover 1 shield.
  • Talent- Juke (Wave 1): While you perform an attack, if you are evading, you may change 1 of the defender’s Evade results to a Focus result.

Delta-7 Aethersprite “Luminara Unduli” (Aethersprite Expansion) (46ts) (I4)

While a friendly ship at range 0-2 defends, if it is not in the attacker’s Bullseye, you may spend 1 Force. If you do, change 1 Crit result to a Hit result or 1 Hit result to a Focus result.

Fine-tuned Controls: After you fully execute a maneuver, you may spend 1 Force to perform a Boost or Barrel Roll action.

  • Title/Modification- Calibrated Laser Targeting (Aethersprite Expansion): While you perform a primary attack, if the defender is in your Bullseye, add 1 Focus result.

Lock S-Foils in Attack Position

This list is a fun one to fly. Thanks to multiple Jukes it can cause some damage but it can also suffer from only having four two dice attacks. The list does not have to stick close together to still be effective. Because of how fragile they all are, you will often do hit and runs. This will necessitate spreading them out. So long as you can bring them all to bear at once, to maximize Padme and Juke, you’ll be able to get damage through.

Padme is your icing on top of the Juke cake. When they defend, Juke is turning a die to a Focus. Padme is ensuring they can only modify one Focus total. So if they roll any native Focus results, their Focus token is still only changing one of them.

Ric Olie is your heavy hitter. He shoots first and has good odds to roll an extra attack dice. This combines to make him good bait too. When he gets that extra attack he also gets an extra defense. Don’t be afraid to blast him five forward if it means he gets his ability and range one even it means he will take an attack.

Anakin flips around causing mischief. Those double barrel rolls can put him in unexpected locations. He does regret that N-1 not having a hard one more than any of the others. He also makes a good blocker if you need one.

Luminara is your insurance. She also combines well with Padme and Juke. Opponent rolls Hit, Hit, Focus? Now it’s Hit, Focus, Focus and they can only modify one Focus. Or none because you already burned their Focus on defense thanks to Juke. Or they need to keep it to use against Juke on defense to stay alive. You won’t get CLT often but it’s nice when it triggers. You’ll probably want to Focus with her and save the Force for her ability. She is the only one who needs to remain relatively close to the others but range 2 still gives you a wide area to maneuver in.

Variations

The R2 on Padme is entirely optional. Her ability is quite useful so giving her a chance to regen can keep her in the fight longer. But you could give it to any of the other N-1s as well. You even have an extra point if you want to turn it into two R4’s or an R4 and and R3. Or give two ships Fire Control System. Or one ships FCS and and R3.
