Welcome to the HoloNet Uplink, citizen. This series focuses on Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars Roleplaying Game, with content aimed mostly at the Gamemaster. Threats, adventure seeds, rules supplements, and more are all to come for those who access The HoloNet Uplink.

I know some people have opinions on this one, and I certainly have mine (I’m a fan). Rather than my usual blurb of a paragraph or two, I think I’m just going to leave this riiiiiigggghhhhtttttt heeeeeeere.

Adult Purgill [Nemesis]

Purgills are a rare form of space fauna. Giant, whale-like creatures, the purgill move through space using specialized organs found in their tentacles and fins. Capable of surviving in both the vacuum of realspace and making the jump between systems via hyperspace, the purgills depend on Clouzon-36 gas to power their unique biology.  The purgill are gentle by nature, moving through the galaxy in multi-generational packs. Despite this nature, these creatures are considered a danger by spacers for their tendency to crowd hyperspace lanes.

While the purgill’s natural hyperspace abilities are considered legend today, some say these creatures inspired the creation of the original hyperdrives. In the earliest days of galactic expansion, explorers often relied on purgills to discover the major hyperlanes used today. These explorers would also track purgills to discover deposits of gas suitable for collection and field refining, extending the range of hyperspace scout vessels. This symbiotic relationship is all but forgotten by the broader galactic civilization.
