Fantasy Flight Hyperspace Report

Today at the start of Worlds at FFG Headquarters, they kicked things off with the Hyperspace Report revealing lots of goodies about upcoming FFG Products. So what did we learn?

These are jotted down notes from the livestream. It was hard to hear some people talk so I apologize for lack of clarity and details.

X-Wing 2.0

  • X-wing 2.0
  • Change to turrets, actions, and more
    • More like Mobile Arcs
  • Medium base ships
  • Refined graphic design and ease of use changes
  • Green maneuvers become blue for colorblind
  • Backwad compatibility
  • Fully compatible
  • Conversion kids with new cards and punchboard
  • Brand new cards from second edition ship expansions
  • The Force
    • FS pilots, plays a major roles
    • Force charges can be spent to gain powerful effect
  • Stronger factions- FO/Resistance their own thing
  • More defined strengths
  • No point costs or upgrade slots on cards
  • All on app builder
  • Lets OP update and change on the fly quicker
  • Custom Squad building rules
  • First Wave
  • Upgrade Kit, ship bases, cards
  • Dice did not change
  • Wave 14 witll feature components for both first and second edition of X-wing
  • All will be released at GenCon and full release in September

    • Each wave has store championship style events
    • Seasonal events with different prizes monthly
    • System Open will continue
    • Regional become Hyperspace Trials
    • World Championships moving to October, Just for X-wing
  • Most exciting part of 2.0 from panelists
    • Squad builder allows to dynamically change meta
      • Prevent cards from dominating the meta
    • Movable S-foils
    • Take all the experience from the last fuve years and learn from it
  • Questions from Livestream and balte
    • Is 2.o a good entry point? Yes, goal was to make things intuitive, Make new cards easier to process.
    • Is all content in conversion kit or do you need a core set? Yes you still need a core set. Something about templates and bases. Unclear.
    • If new to X-wing do you need conversion kits? No.
  • Pilot Skill is now called Initiative
    • Capped and no more Veteran Instincts
  • Position will be more important
    • All ships will have Bullseye arc and will affect cards like Predator
  • Ordnance will change to most not requiring spending of the lock
  • Secondary Weapons now apply range bonuses
  • New Templates will assist with determining position for bumps
  • New phase during Activation where bombs (devices) will be dropped
    • No more action bombs
  • Continue to sell 1.0 until out of stock then reprint as 2.0 when released
