Astral Projections – Eateries for Cyberpunk RED: Classic Sushi

Edgerunners gotta eat, too, choombas. And I don’t mean kibble. So once in a while, you get to go out to a nice Night City restaurant – my treat! Classic Sushi is aimed at those living the Good Prepak and better Lifestyles. That is, if you are paying for Good Prepak or higher Lifestyle, your meal should be included, unless you’ve been spending really crazy this month.

CLASSIC SUSHI: If you’re craving sushi and want The Real Thing, head to Classic Sushi, located in Little Europe. The Abe family have operated this restaurant since the early 2000s, although it had to be rebuilt in a new location, Little Europe, after the Fourth Corporate War. Talented sushi chefs Kohaku, Ken, and Seiji Abe lovingly prepare the sushi and sashimi from real fish who swam in real water on fishfarms. (Would you eat anything from the polluted oceans? That’s at least as risky as eating improperly-prepared fugu. And, no, the Abes don’t offer fugu; they aren’t properly trained to prepare it, even if it could be obtained outside of Japan nowadays.) The menu also features other traditional Japanese foods such as chirinabe and tempura. Many of their vegetables come from either rooftop garden co-ops or Nomad farms. “Meats” in their dishes are almost always vat-grown, however, due to the expense.

Seating ranges from bar to booths arranged for privacy to a small private party room. The Abes do catering as well, for select clients. A diner can expect to pay 20-50EB (Good to Excellent Restaurant Meal), although charges for catering can run to 100EB per plate.

Many medical and science professionals patronize Classic Sushi. For the most part, these are researchers, Medtechs, and entry to mid-level Execs employed by biotech and cybernetics corporations, as well as some City Medical staffers. Some of Night City’s better physicians and ripperdocs eat here as well. In addition to a wonderful meal, Classic Sushi is an ideal spot to make medical or biotech industry contacts. You might be able to obtain information, a freelance job, or some hard-to-get biomed products. It’s a good place for a Fixer to hang out. If you’re an Exec, you might even be able to find a new employer.
