One of <\/em>Edge of the Empire\u2019s most iconic play experiences is that of the bounty hunter. While some Imperial officers may think they don\u2019t need those scum, the truth is the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations (IOCI) relies on bounty hunters to bring in the most elusive fugitives. This is an article in a series of premade bounty contracts which can be dropped directly into your game or can serve as a starting point for more deliberate bounty hunting adventures.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Using This Entry<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This entry consists of the following elements: a text bounty posting which can be provided to your players, character statistics and behaviour for Chawrawwr, and leads for gathering more information. GMs can use what is provided along with some improvisation to provide an instant bounty hunting session, or they can treat the content as a shell to be expanded into a multi-session adventure.<\/p>\n

Statistics and Tactics<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Chawrawwr, Wanted Shipjacker [Nemesis]<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the Wookiee known as Chawrawwr is a veteran shipjacker, few in underworld or law enforcement circles know of him. As a Wookiee, he exploits the prejudices of other species to blend into the background. He operates exclusively in the Outer Rim to avoid having to answer uncomfortable questions from Imperial authorities keen to capture escaped Wookiees. Chawrawwr has a successful technique that he replicates from world to world. He poses, or even secures employment, as a technical labourer in the starport. Wookiee technicians are a relatively common sight in the Outer Rim, and few who become suspicious wish to risk a Wookiee\u2019s wrath. Through a mix of Coercion and Deception, Chawrawwr keeps a low profile while finding a target. Once selected, he bypasses the ship\u2019s security measures using his considerable technical skills. Chawrawwr then makes a quick getaway, jumps system, and generally offloads the ship for parts at chop shop such as Erin Szarch\u2019s on Nar Shaddaa. Like most Wookiees, Chawrawwr loathes the idea of captivity and will fight to the death to avoid it.<\/p>\n

The Latest Victim – Vim Zanos<\/strong><\/p>\n

This gregarious Nautolan explorer is Chawrawwr\u2019s latest victim. An Outer Rim explorer, Vim\u2019s pride and joy was the highly modified YV-560 Farjumper<\/em>. After a night of regaling cantina patrons with his numerous highly embellished stories, Vim returned to the starport to find his ship missing. Upon investigating further, Vim found that the capable Wookiee technician who had repaired his ship was not employed by the starport and that all security footage of the theft had been deleted. Vim is now killing time drinking it the local cantina waiting to be picked up by a gloating rival.<\/p>\n

Vim can easily be convinced to help the PCs. He doesn\u2019t know much about Chawrawrr aside from his name and technical abilities, but he does know all the details of the Farjumper<\/em>\u2019s special modifications. The navicomputer and hyperdrive both were enhanced using prototype technologies. This information allows the PCs to upgrade checks to locate or identify the Farjumper;<\/em>\u00a0for example a Knowledge (Underworld) check to locate Erin Szarch\u2019s chop shop.<\/p>\n

Use the Sullustan Pilot-for-Hire statistics (EotE <\/em>pg. 396) to represent Vim Zanos.<\/p>\n

The Associate \u2013 Erin Szarch<\/strong><\/p>\n

The unknown outlaw tech referred to in the IOCI posting, Erin Szarch runs the chop shop that Chawrawrr usually fences his stolen ships through. A short, boyish human female, Erin is all business when it comes to tech. Finding a specific chop shop on Nar Shaddaa is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, however, so armed only with the IOCI posting it would take a Hard (3 Purple) Knowledge (Underworld) <\/strong>check to locate Erin\u2019s shop. PCs who have the details of Farjumper<\/em>\u2019s special modifications may upgrade this check as she has already dismantled the ship and sold several of the components.<\/p>\n

Once located, Erin is happy to do business with the PCs, but will be extremely reluctant to discuss Chawrawwr. Not only is Chawrawwr is good source of merchandise, he is above all else an intimidatingly large Wookiee. Any attempt to extract information about Chawrawwr from Erin will be subject to 2 Setback die. If Erin can be successfully persuaded, or coerced, she could set up another purchase from Chawrawwr which the PCs can use to take the Wookiee down.<\/p>\n
