Well too bad!<\/p>\n<p>Goblins get hurt\u2026 a lot. Some times it\u2019s not even their fault. I thought it was high time that I introduce you to those selfless souls that take it upon themselves to study the art of medicine and dedicate their lives to healing the sick and injured of their tribe.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for you (and more importantly for the goblins), such creatures don\u2019t exist. Instead, they get the goblin chop docs. These \u201cmedicine men\u201d of the tribe carry rusty knives and seem to follow an oath of \u201cfirst do as much harm as possible\u201d with a penchant for removing fingers and limbs, even when that is clearly not the problem. This often times does more harm than good, and many die under their care of blood infections and the disease known as \u201cmuscle rot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course this also has the effect of making the goblins they\u00a0<em>do\u00a0<\/em>heal and help to recover even more miraculous and only increases the stories of their healing prowess leading to more goblins seeking them out for their own maladies.<\/p>\n<p>I see \u201cgoblin medicine\u201d as it appears in combat more like brutal chiropractic care, wrenching limbs and dislocating shoulders to \u201cencourage good blood flow.\u201d The actual medical benefit doesn\u2019t exist, but hey \u2013 hit points are meant to be something of an abstraction, so as far as I\u2019m concerned so can healing them. One of these guys can really serve to keep your run-of-the-mill goblins on their feet for a few more rounds, especially if the DM gets lucky with the recharge rolls on their \u201cgoblin medicine\u201d ability.\u00a0 What\u2019s more, they can also give an unlucky PC a condition they\u2019re likely to remember for the rest of their lives with their ability to inflict the disease \u201cmuscle rot\u201d with their weapon attacks (more on that below).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28065\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.d20radio.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goblin-chop-doc.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28065 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.d20radio.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goblin-chop-doc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.d20radio.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goblin-chop-doc.png 400w, https:\/\/www.d20radio.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goblin-chop-doc-199x300.png 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-28065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Statblock created with <a href=\"https:\/\/tetra-cube.com\/dnd\/dnd-statblock.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">D&amp;D 5e Statblock Generator<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I was actually a little bit surprised to see that there wasn\u2019t some form of \u201cfantasy tetanus\u201d represented within the <em>Dungeon Master\u2019s Guide<\/em>. In fact, diseases aren\u2019t really given much beyond a couple of paragraphs and a few examples. I wanted to give these guys something a little bit more memorable than \u201cjust another monster that causes filth fever\u201d so I worked up this idea. A reasonably healthy character (especially one who is trained in Constitution saving throws) has little to worry from this, barring some bad dice luck.
