Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Finder\u2019s Archives.<\/em><\/p>\n

In this column, we take some of the lands from Magic: The Gathering and turn them into something you can use for your fantasy games.<\/em><\/p>\n

The stats given in each entry assumes that you\u2019re using Pathfinder 2 for your games, but they can easily be converted over into any fantasy system. This week we take up the watch at the Boros Guildgate.<\/em><\/p>\n

Boros Guildgate<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most outsiders believe that the Boros Guildgate surrounds the Boros Garrison, and that it is simply a gateway to the districts controlled by the Boros. Those who have manned the Guildgate know better. The Guildgate is the first line of defense against the Hordes of Hell. Here, select mortals \u2013 those so often labeled \u201cChosen Ones\u201d \u2013 fight on a daily basis to keep the rest of the multiverse safe from demonic and devilish incursions.<\/p>\n

Lay of the Land<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Boros Guildgate is built as a massive defensive fortification, literally on the cusp of the lower planes, where it protects the rest of the multiverse from what lies on the other side. While the scale of the fortifications is beyond mind-boggling, and existing in multiple dimensions, realities, and timelines at once, they are simply not enough, and in spite of how impressive they are, incursions still happen regularly. As a result, part of the fortifications are always undergoing repair or construction, and the guildgate has been built to defend against attacks from all directions: in front, behind, above, below, and more. The best minds of the upper planes have bent their wills to protecting it.<\/p>\n

However, the act of protecting it itself has fallen to mortals. Simply put, they are almost as numerous as the hordes of evil, and far outstrip the numbers of angels and other divine beings. The task has therefore fallen to the Boros and the students from the garrison. This is where they send their graduates. Those newly qualified from the academy help in the rear, where they can gain valuable experience, the veterans guard the walls and the gates, and those who are too old (or have suffered crippling injuries) are usually given administrative assignments. Anyone causing trouble here has better be prepared to defend themselves against some of the mightiest warriors that the multiverse has ever seen.<\/p>\n

Dangers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Guildgate itself is fairly safe, as are the inhabitants. Danger presents itself frequently though, in the forms of attacks (whether probing or full-on assaults) from the lower planes. Anything can be met here, from the lowest lemure or abyssal larva to a balor or pit fiend. But, the likely most dangerous creature here is none of those. It is a Solar (PF2<\/a> \/ 5e<\/a>) \u00a0named Tymon (the Traitor). \u00a0Tymon has been subverted by Lilith herself (turning Lawful Evil), and while appearing to help at the Boros Guildgate, he has secretly been undermining their efforts for several centuries. He has never been caught \u2013 but he has been suspected on multiple occasions. Whenever that happens, the next incursion from the lower planes inevitably strikes where his foes are \u2013 guided by him. Eventually, he hopes to bring down the Guildgate and be united with Lilith. While he knows that she will likely shun him initially, he hopes to amass enough power to challenge and defeat one of the archdevils and take their place, with her at his side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
