Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Finder’s Archives.<\/em><\/p>\n

Today we continue our small mini-series for Halloween, where we take a look at some iconic horror villains, and introduce them to your games. We will be looking at them, one per week, for the 5 weeks leading up to Halloween. <\/em>😊<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Some of these will involve stat blocks, while others will look at the horrors that they inflict upon others. This week, a villain that doesn\u2019t WANT to be a villain: CUJO.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Cujo, Giant Gone Mad<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cujo is a GOOD DOG. Until he gets bitten by a bat carrying rabies. Cujo then goes mad, suffering from intense pain, that is only lessened by the pain he inflicts on others. Cujo doesn’t WANT to hurt anyone, but they hurt him with their noise, their lights, and their presence.<\/p>\n

That is, in both the film and the book, Cujo is unable to control himself, making him a tragic villain, one that dies for the dreadful things he does, without wanting to do them.<\/p>\n

But what if?<\/strong><\/p>\n

But what if, instead of this, the virus that Cujo was inflicted with was different? It was a deliberate attempt by someone to create a rabid monster, one that willingly takes the lives of others, if only to ease its own pain. In this version, Cujo is afflicted with this different strain – he’s become more intelligent as a result, bigger, and stronger. He has lived for a number of years after getting initially inflicted. Now, the pain has become a companion, and Cujo enjoys the killing he does instead.<\/p>\n

This virus could infect anyone, if the GM wishes, making them into a rabid serial killer. But for the purposes of this, we’ll assume that Cujo is the only one afflicted by this particular virus. Presented here are the rules for Cujo in Pathfinder 2 version.<\/p>\n

\nDevil Bite<\/strong> [free action] (occult) Frequency<\/strong> once per day, and recharges when Cujo uses Ferocity; Trigger<\/strong> Cujo succeeds at an attack roll. Effect<\/strong> The attack becomes a critical success.<\/p>\n

Speed<\/strong> 35 feet
\nMelee<\/strong> [one-action] jaws +17, Damage<\/strong> 2d10+9 piercing plus Grab
\nMauler<\/strong> Cujo gains a +2 circumstance bonus to damage rolls against creatures it has grabbed.
\nRush<\/strong> [two actions] Cujo Strides and makes a Strike at the end of that movement. During the Stride, Cujo gains a +10-foot circumstance bonus to its Speed.<\/p>\n
