Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Finder\u2019s Archives.<\/em><\/p>\n

In this column, we take some of the lands from Magic: The Gathering and turn them into something you can use for your fantasy games.<\/em><\/p>\n

The stats given in each entry assumes that you\u2019re using Pathfinder 2 for your games, but they can easily be converted over into any fantasy system. This week it\u2019s time to repair your weapons and armor and sharpen that sword at the Battlefield Forge.<\/em><\/p>\n

Battlefield Forge<\/strong><\/p>\n

The battlefield forge is the place where every warrior eventually comes to. It\u2019s where you can repair your weapons, and your armor, and prepare yourself for the day’s battle. The battlefield forge is a relatively small and portable blacksmith\u2019s shop, one that can be set up anywhere that you can get a fire going. The downside to it is that it isn\u2019t as well-protected as a normal forge, so it requires a thick skin to work it safely.<\/p>\n

Lay of the Land<\/strong><\/p>\n

Battlefield forges follow armies and adventures, in that they get set up by camp followers and henchmen, as well as the occasional adventurer. They\u2019re set up with a warm fire, and preferably near a stream or somewhere to cool heated metal, when it\u2019s being repaired. It comes with a number of tools and can repair almost any piece of metal or leather.<\/p>\n

There are rumors of some of these battlefield forges that are able to not only repair normal items but magical ones as well. Not only that, some are said to do so automatically, manned by ghostly masters, who help out any that manage to gain their friendship, disappearing at each sunrise, and reappearing with sunset near the campsites of their friends.<\/p>\n

Dangers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ghostly battlefield forges are dangerous places until one has proven that you\u2019re friendly. They\u2019re manned by ghosts (though these have a neutral alignment) and while these are not actively hostile, they\u2019ll need to be convinced to extend their friendship. This normally requires the people interested in acquiring these rare battlefield forges to undertake a quest on behalf of the ghost. What this quest entails depends on the ghost in question, but rumor has it that at least one of them asks people to contact the ghost\u2019s family with various messages from the afterlife. Another asks that a life be taken on the forge, and the lifeblood added to the embers of a dying fire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
