When Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars<\/em>, the first major shakeup was the change in what was considered canon regarding the Star Wars<\/em> continuity.\u00a0 In one swift stroke, the entire Expanded Universe (EU) was felled and became relegated to non-canon status.\u00a0 Those novels, books, and characters of the former EU are now considered Legends and many do not fit into the new canon timeline in any way.<\/p>\n

Many fans, myself included, were dismayed to hear that many of the storylines, heroes, and villains we had come to enjoy were now simply written out of existence by Disney.\u00a0 This has prompted me to create a new series regarding the heroes and villains of Star Wars<\/em> Legends.\u00a0 Periodically I will highlight a particular character from Legends and provide FFG stats for them to be used in any Star Wars<\/em> RPG campaign.\u00a0 I will present them as an in-canon look at the character showing how they would fit into the now canon timeline.\u00a0 Today I am writing about a hero of Legends:\u00a0 Corran Horn.<\/a><\/p>\n

Corran Horn first appeared in the X-Wing novels written by Michael Stackpole in the 1990s.\u00a0 He was a former investigator in the Corellian Security Force<\/a> (CorSec) who left Corellia<\/a> after the Battle of Endor and eventually joined the New Republic<\/a> as a fighter pilot.\u00a0 Corran was also, unbeknownst to him, Force-sensitive and the descendant of a Corellian Jedi.\u00a0 He eventually went on to join Luke Skywalker\u2019s<\/a> Jedi Academy and become a Jedi Master.\u00a0 The Legends novel \u201cI, Jedi\u201d featured Corran and his development as a new Jedi.<\/p>\n

I am going to provide stats for Corran Horn as he might appear during his time with CorSec and then give some tips on how to drop him in as an NPC in a Star Wars<\/em> campaign.\u00a0 I will also discuss how he might be utilized after the collapse of the Empire.\u00a0 His future and fate can now be written by new GMs, and their players, at a gaming table near you!<\/p>\n

Development Notes<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In creating stats for Corran Horn, I started with the stats for a CorSec Investigator found on page 21 of Suns of Fortune<\/em> as a baseline.\u00a0 I then referred to skills and characteristics given to Corran in one of his first RPG appearances, \u201cStar Wars Adventure Journal #7<\/em>\u201d, in the d6 RPG system to customize him a bit more.\u00a0 Following that, I used the Colonist, Marshall specialization, talent tree to give him a few talents that I thought would be appropriate for him.\u00a0 Finally, I touched on his latent Force-sensitive abilities by giving him some talents from the top of the Force Sensitive Exile talent tree.<\/p>\n

Utilizing Corran Horn in Your Campaign<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As presented, this version of Corran Horn represents him in his early years working for CorSec during the time period between 2 ABY until 5 ABY.\u00a0 In Legends, it was around 5 ABY that he left CorSec and Corellia to distance himself from the machinations of Kirtan Loor<\/a>, an Imperial Intelligence<\/a> Liaison that was attached to CorSec during Corran\u2019s service there.\u00a0 PC\u2019s who encounter Corran Horn between 2 ABY and 3 ABY will find him as a young, dedicated officer serving in CorSec and committed to protecting the laws and people of his homeworld.\u00a0 He may sometimes be encountered working with his father, Hal Horn<\/a>, a veteran CorSec Investigator.<\/p>\n

After 3 ABY, Corran\u2019s investigative skills saw him transferred into the Smuggling Interdiction Division of CorSec where he began working with an R2-series astromech droid, R2-Z0, who was called Whistler<\/a>.\u00a0 Corran can be encountered working in a uniformed or undercover capacity or flying patrol missions in a CorSec T-65 X-wing fighter<\/a>.\u00a0 His frequent partner during this time period is CorSec Investigator Iella Wessiri<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After 5 ABY, Corran will be encountered away from Imperial-controlled space and operating under an assortment of aliases.\u00a0 Kirtan Loor may have bounties issued for Corran Horn, but in the upheaval caused by the collapse of the Empire it may get little notice.\u00a0 Eventually, Corran will likely be called to venture into New Republic-controlled space and seek to again work in a law enforcement capacity or he may try to return to his home planet of Corellia.<\/p>\n
