Is the payoff from your latest job burning a hole in your pocket? Do you need to blow off steam after your latest narrow scrape with a squad of Stormtroopers? Or maybe you’re just looking for a little nightlife that isn’t the usual hive of scum and villainy? Whatever the reason, The Lagoon could be your next favorite hangout.<\/p>\n

An upscale nightclub nestled in the remnants of the jungle on the outskirts of Corellia\u2019s Coronet City, The Lagoon caters primarily to the substantial non-human population of the city. The owner is a homesick Aqualish, and as such,\u00a0the interior of the club is dark, cool and uncomfortably humid for most land-based humanoids. Mon Calamari, Quarren, Nautolans, and other aquatic species find it most comfortable, however, and often make up the majority of the crowd on any given\u00a0night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amenities:<\/h3>\n

The club is laid out with an open floor plan to make the most of its primary feature; a huge aquarium which dominates both levels of the club. The enormous tank rises from the middle of the first-level dance floor and up through a hole in the VIP area on the second floor. Exotic fish dart through the iridescent waters, glowing under the club lights. A circular bar wraps around the base of the aquarium, serving to keep the dancers away from the water, as well as a central area to order drinks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of drinks; the bartenders here are amazing. As with most of the club’s amenities, the drinks are primarily geared towards aquatic species, so expect lots of sea-inspired flavors. Some of the most popular drinks feature exotic marine ingredients like dried plankton flakes or a twist of kelp. Make sure you know what you’re ordering, or you may find your drink has unexpectedly strong notes of anchovy oil.<\/p>\n

Durian Ghent:<\/h3>\n

The owner of the club is an Aqualish named Durian Ghent. Ghent enjoys his life as an entrepreneur, but it makes up only a fraction of his total occupation. He is also an accomplished and well-connected infochant and black marketeer. With ties to Black Sun and a hand in Corellia\u2019s underground Spice market, he turns a tidy profit in all his enterprises. Ghent prefers to keep his own hands clean whenever possible,\u00a0and when something comes up that can\u2019t be trusted to the usual cadre of go-betweens, he sends his personal bodyguards, a pair of twin Gran named Alyn and Valyn.\u00a0 Don’t let Ghent’s rough business fool you though. The Lagoon is a classy and well-respected establishment. It has to be, to rake in the kind of\u00a0money it does every week. Regardless of what its owner is doing on the side, the Lagoon is as safe and law-abiding as any place where sentients gather. Durian Ghent is very committed to keeping his club on the up-and-up, and rowdy customers are quickly expelled. When not out doing Ghent’s dirty work, the twins can usually be found guarding Ghent’s area of the VIP room, or acting as bouncers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entertainment:<\/b><\/h3>\n

Aside from the more conventional attractions of The Lagoon (drinks, dancing, an evening with a fascinating stranger), players might find an interest in the club\u2019s VIP area, which regularly hosts games of chance. Ghent\u2019s Sabaac tournaments are an open secret in Coronet City\u2019s underground, and attract a large crowd of spectators as well as hopeful players. These tournaments are held monthly, and are interspersed with more mundane games of pazaak and hintaro.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Players who tend more towards arts and culture than gambling will find themselves entranced by the lounge acts. Where other nightlife hosts live music, the Lagoon holds its head high as one of the only establishments on Corellia that hosts an array of exclusively underwater entertainment. From submarine dance troupes to difficult \u201ccurrent painting\u201d demonstrations, the Lagoon plays host to the finest Corellia\u2019s aquatic population has to offer, including the ever-popular underwater concert series \u201cSounds of the Deep.\u201d Performers play waterproof instruments on a specialized stage floating in the Aquarium, suspended halfway from the bottom by variable-density pressure barges. Listeners are provided with an auditory access area, where they can submerge their heads to hear the strange, warbling tunes played by aquatic bands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Final Notes:<\/b><\/h3>\n

<\/b>Players who are looking for spice will not find themselves well-received at this club. Despite Ghent\u2019s ties to the business, he has a strict policy against spice ever entering the premises of his establishment, and more than one employee has been unceremoniously fired for allowing it into the building. Ghent is known on these occasions to use the phrase \u201cI don’t want to see anyone in here who uses the stuff I sell.\u00a0\u201d A saying which encompasses quite a lot of his moral philosophy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If your crew is planning a trip to Corellia, why not stop by The Lagoon? Great drinks, unique music, and an unforgettable atmosphere make it well worth the trip, even if the humans in your party find themselves a bit damper than they’re used to.
