With\u00a0Star Wars Resistance<\/em> on a variety of screens, it is only natural that I turn to this new animated series for inspiration. I’m overall a fan of the show since, while I’m out of its target demographic and thus it’s got some\u00a0Clone Wars\u00a0<\/em>season 1 cringe, it does have quite a few things going for us older fans. The ships, kit, tech, and aliens are all a delightful mash up of Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, Sequel Trilogy, and brand new. This has been my mini-review, so with that out of the way I’ll introduce today’s topic.<\/p>\n

Resistance<\/em> starts off in typical\u00a0Star Wars<\/em>\u00a0 in media res\u00a0<\/em>fashion, featuring a dogfight against the dreaded Major Vonreg and his First Order TIE Interceptor. While it remains to be seen if this is a one-off ship operated only by Major Vonreg or if they are mass produced, they certainly are worth adding to your complement of First Order ships stats. So thus, enjoy the First Order TIE Interceptor.<\/p>\n

TIE\/iv \u201cFirst Order\u201d Interceptor<\/h3>\n

Continuing the First Order’s shift from the expendable fighters of the Empire to upgraded craft capable of going toe-to-toe with the New Republic, the TIE\/iv enhances the dreaded TIE Interceptor of the Galactic Civil War. Retaining the high speed and tight maneuvering of its predecessor, the TIE\/iv incorporates the standard First Order fight equipment of deflector shields and a hyperdrive. Dubbed by some First Order pilots as the “T-85 killer,” where the standard TIE\/fo and special forces TIE\/sf were meant to match New Republic capabilities, the TIE\/iv was meant to overmatch them.<\/p>\n

Although highly capable in the anti-strikecraft intercept role, mass deployment of the TIE\/iv has yet to be observed. These TIE interceptors were designed for a battle that ultimately did not happen. With the destruction of the New Republic Fleet above Hosnian Prime, the First Order avoided having to engage mass formations of advanced T-85 X-Wings. Sighting of these TIE interceptors are rare, with Resistance spies reporting their use as a commander-type fighter employed by squadron leaders. Rarer still are reports of a TIE\/iv painted red, echoing the Royal Guard Interceptors of Palpatine’s Empire. Whether these red TIEs denote the craft of the mysterious Praetorian Guard of Supreme Leader Snoke, or mark an entirely new class of First Order ace, the Resistance has yet to learn.<\/p>\n

He has written for Rusted Iron Games, Raging Swan Press, and most recently Fantasy Flight Games\u2019 Star Wars RPG. Chris is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Political Science.
