This series follows the trials, tribulations, successes, and failures of a fairly inexperienced GM who has recently picked up the hobby after a long time away. It aims to assist new GM\u2019s by examining what worked, didn\u2019t work, and what failed miserably as he spins up new campaigns, modules, encounters, and adventures for his friends and family in Fantasy Flight Games\u2019 Edge of the Empire\/Age of Rebellion\/Force and Destiny system.<\/em><\/p>\n

Despite the fact that some Star Wars fans can’t get their heads around what Star Wars: The Last Jedi\u00a0<\/em>was trying to do (I’m not one of them!), there is one thing for certain: Lucasfilm continues to dazzle us with their imaginations creating new characters, vehicles, and creatures to wow us with.\u00a0 In\u00a0The Last Jedi<\/em>, the Porgs got the most (albeit mostly unreasonable) attention as the movie came out.\u00a0 The Vulptex (Crystal foxes) got the next most attention due to them being in the trailers.\u00a0 But for me, my favorite were the Fathiers… the horse-like beings on Canto Bite who were enslaved to run races by the rich folk who ran the island.\u00a0 They first appeared in the novel: Aftermath: Empire’s End<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Many of them, if you didn’t know, had actual names like horses do on the track.\u00a0 “Hoth Stuff” and “Kessel Runner” were two of the names in Aurebesh on the sides of the creatures in one of the races in fact!<\/p>\n

A non-sentient, however insightful species, the Fathier have very long legs, brownish fur, and long ears that distinguish it from other species.\u00a0 Fathiers can run at great speeds across any type of terrain.\u00a0 In the film, we even see one climb nearly straight up a short cliff face to escape.\u00a0 Their great speed has made them sought after by gambling houses all across the galaxy and caused the enslavement of many of their kind.\u00a0 They are hunted and forced to race in many casinos and race tracks in the galaxy.\u00a0 In fact, when kept in captivity, Fathiers often must endure “Double-Gravity” chambers causing them to gain strength even when moving about their confined areas.\u00a0 The people of Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica are particularly cruel to the animals.<\/p>\n

Fathiers are easily domesticated and can be fitted with a riding harness and saddle.\u00a0 Tognath Mercenaries during the time of the Galactic Civil War often rode Fathiers during hit and run missions.<\/p>\n

Abilities:\u00a0<\/strong>Silhouette 2, Domesticable 2 (downgrade the difficulty of checks to train Fathiers by 2), Trained Mount 2 (add 2 boost dice to a rider’s Survival checks to ride the Fathier).<\/p>\n
