Let’s round out the Kanto starters with a look at the evolutionary line of the water starter, Squirtle. I’m honestly torn between Squirtle and Charmander for my favorite of the original three starters (sorry, Matt), so they were a lot of fun to write up. I present: 007 Squirtle, 008 Wartortle, and 009 Blastoise. The Withdraw ability gave me no small end of consternation on how it should be written without just giving these creatures a bunch of damage resistances and immunities. I quite like how it came out in the end though. This evolutionary line is a definite tank with large amounts of hit points and high Armor Class, making it a stout and sturdy combatant that is capable of sticking around the battlefield and causing more damage than it’s modest damage output might suggest.
