Ander Fleetfire
Ander Fleetfire
Unlike the rest of the Order of 66 who returned from the Unknown Regions, Ander Fleetfire was not present for the original exodus as an escort to the Revanchist after the war with the Mandalorians. In fact, he was born almost two decades later, during The Search, the mission that Revan had placed upon a section of his followers. After spending 17 years without having found what had been named The Chasm by their leader (without explaining what The Chasm was, of course), a Jedi Knight named Ydren fell in love with Bren Fleetfire, the captain of the starship she was traveling on, and had a child.
Five years later, however, Ander’s father shot Ydren and then killed himself for reasons unknown. Ydren was transferred to a medical cruiser and placed in foster care for two years, when he was submitted to the test for Force Sensitivity. Having passed, he was again transferred, this time to an aged female Jedi Master named Xandra Latt. Xandra taught Ander basic Force and lightsaber techniques, and quickly realized that Ander was a rather talented student in both regards. She also realized that Ander had deepset aggression issues, which she believed were related to the death of his parents. At the age of 13, instead of assigning him as a padawan to one of the Jedi Knights in the fleet, she asked one of the group who had decided to seek out Revan in Republic space to take Ander with them and turn him over to the Jedi Academy on Coruscant for “proper training”. Jedi Master Lasser Dragoon agreed to take him, and Latt made him swear to watch over him during his training.
Now back in the Core Worlds, Dragoon went straight to the Jedi Temple and turned Ander over to the Jedi Council. The Council assigned Ander to a rather green Jedi Knight, which quickly fell apart due to Ander’s natural aggression. Ander was passed around to two more Jedi Knights; one was killed by a group of Kinrath when Ander brashly charged into their nest swinging, and the other became so enraged at Ander that he sent him into unnecessarily dangerous situations, causing the Council to step in. After that, Ander was secretly approached by Dragoon, who explained that the Council was afraid of Ander’s behavior, as Revan had been the same way, and they had placed the blame for their problems at his feet. Dragoon went on to tell Ander of the Order that had begun to form amongst those who had returned. Dragoon impressed upon Ander that he was necessary to their cause, but that they needed him to stay amongst the Jedi and try to influence them from within.
After that, Ander’s behavior improved considerably. His considerable skill caused him quickly rise to the rank of Jedi Knight. Secretly, he also kept in touch with the rest of the now-christened Order of 66, and when he was named Jedi Master, he was one of the most outspoken voices for necessary aggression in the Jedi Order. While this made the older members of the Jedi Order (some of whom were alive during Revan’s attack) fearful, he was allowed to speak, because some on the Council believed that by censuring Revan, they had caused him to become what he did. Ander was never given a place on the Council himself; his legacy will be remembered by the numbers he was able to bring to the Order of 66. Many – especially younger Jedi – heard his words and through him were taught the words of Revan.
