The Necromancer’s Workshop – The Sloth Zombie

Solomon Grundy Deluxe Action Figure

Come, come. Follow me. Right this way. Oh quiet, you’re buying undead minions from me, you don’t get to complain about the smell of formaldehyde. Watch your step, you don’t want to slip in that. Ah. Here we are – my greatest work yet. You can come closer, it won’t bite. It hasn’t been animated yet. But you can get a sense of the scale of the creature. These creatures serve as a strong and capable centerpiece of any undead army. I would not be doing my job if I let you walk out of here without at least pledging for at least several of these.

Sloth Zombie

The sloth zombie is created through a process of sewing together several different cadavers to create a large body. Then a spirit of sloth is summoned and slaved to the body before it is animated, creating a powerful creature of undeath. The sloth zombie does not shamble like its lesser brethren, but instead takes long and strong, albeit slow and deliberate strides, across the battlefield. They lash out with their powerful fists, grabbing whatever foes they can grab and draining them of their life energy with the powers of the sloth spirit. They are big and capable of taking a lot of damage, but they are slow to move. This means that they can be surrounded and quickly destroyed by a force superior in numbers. For that reason they are usually augmented by other undead monsters to keep quicker moving enemies engaged while the sloth zombie approaches.

 Actions

Multiattack. The sloth zombie makes 2 slam attacks. If both attacks hit a Medium or smaller target, the target is grappled (escape DC 14) and the sloth zombie uses Enervate on it.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit 10 (2d6+3) bludgeoning damage

Enervate. The sloth zombie drains the life force from a target that it has grappled. Each turn the sloth zombie starts its turn grappling the creature, the creature must make a DC 14 Constitution save or suffer one level of exhaustion. If the sloth zombie moves, the grappled targets moves with it. The zombie can only grapple one creature at a time.
