Rogue Squadron- Wookiee Rage

Welcome to Rogue Squadron, pilot! In this series we will be looking at different squadrons you can fly in Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing miniatures game. We give you the squad, what expansion pack all of the upgrades come from and then give you the low down on how best to fly it. Strap in and get ready to fly…

All Wings Report In

yt1300YT-1300 “Chewbacca” (Millenium Falcon Expansion) (47 pts) (PS 5)

When you are dealt a faceup Damage card, immediately flip it facedown (without resolving its ability).

  • Elite Pilot Talent- Rage (Jumpmaster 5000 Expansion): Action: Assign 1 focus token to your ship and receive 2 stress tokens. Until the end of the round, when attacking, you may reroll up to 3 attack dice.
  • Crew- Chopper (Ghost Expansion): You may perform actions even while you are stressed. After you perform an action while you are stressed, suffer 1 damage.
  • Crew- R2-D2 (Rebel Transport): At the end of the End phase, if you have no shields, you may recover 1 shield and roll 1 attack die. On a result, randomly flip 1 of your facedown Damage cards faceup and resolve it.

xwingT-65 X-Wing “Jek Porkins” (Rebel Transport Expansion) (28 pts) (PS 7)

When you receive a stress token, you may remove it and roll 1 attack die. On a Hit result, deal 1 facedown Damage card to this ship.

  • Elite Pilot Talent- Rage (Jumpmaster 5000 Expansion): Action: Assign 1 focus token to your ship and receive 2 stress tokens. Until the end of the round, when attacking, you may reroll up to 3 attack dice.
  • Modification- Integrated Astromech (T-70 X-wing Expansion): When you are dealt a Damage card, you may discard 1 of your Astromech Upgrade cards to discard that Damage card.
  • Astromech- R2 Astromech (Y-Wing Expansion):You may treat all 1- and 2-speed maneuvers as green maneuvers

Attack Shuttle “Ezra Bridger” (Ghost Expansion) (24 pts) (PS 4)

When defending, if you are stressed, you may change up to 2 of your Focus results to Evade results.

  • Elite Pilot Talent- Rage (Jumpmaster 5000 Expansion): Action: Assign 1 focus token to your ship and receive 2 stress tokens. Until the end of the round, when attacking, you may reroll up to 3 attack dice.
  • Crew- Kanan Jarrus (Ghost Expansion): Once per round, after a friendly ship at Range 1-2 executes a white maneuver, you may remove 1 stress token from that ship.

Lock S-Foils in Attack Position

I love the imagery of this list. You have Chewbacca flying into a Wookiee Rage and blowing ships up. Chopper is running around grumpily keeping things running just enough so that Chewie can keep up the attack. Meanwhile, Artoo is trying desperately to keep them alive, fixing what Chopper breaks and because it’s the Falcon, sometimes what Artoo fixes just falls part and lands them with a crit.

Elsewhere, Porkins confidently declares that he can hold it and is blasting away without a care in the world, until he has to throw his astromech away to stay alive. All while Ezra slowly gives into the Dark Side and Kanan tries to bring him back.

This isn’t really a super competitive list. After all, you might do more damage to yourself than the enemy will. Porkins will probably kill himself, though slowly. He only has to ignore one of the two stress and the R2 will gives him lots of greens to clear the second. Ezra won’t get to rage every turn but will be defensive when he’s not. And poor Chewie will probably get torn apart but not without taking some guys down with him.

Variations

There is one unspent point available. You could throw Millenium Falcon title on for the fun of it but if you use Chopper in order to take an evade action you’ve just hurt yourself for no reason.

You could drop Kanan and give Ezra a Dorsal turret and Hera. He’ll be able to fire out of arc and make full use of his dial. But he’ll probably only ever rage once.

I thought about including Tycho since he loves stress and therefore can really make full use of Rage. But that kind of defeated the point of the list. Tycho has no downside when raging. This list is about flying into a rage, kicking some butt, and then suffering for it.
