Lock S-Foils in Attack Position

Defense! Defense! This list really is all about being annoying to kill. It’s primary strength is against Twin Laser Turret (TLT) lists. Laetin will either die quickly or be impossible to kill. Due to only three health she doesn’t have much staying power.  But before she takes that first hit and loses the stealth device, rolling four die and getting a free evade if she dodges can really keep her going against a swarm or TLT’s. Those Evades can really start to stack up.

Graz wants to always be facing his opponent, which can be hard with a ship that lacks any repositioning ability. But he can be tough to take down, especially in early engagements. Range 3, in arc, with stealth and he’s now rolling 5 green dice.

The big TLT fighter is IG-88C who is able to Boost into closer range, getting a free evade and hopefully then be in the TLT donut hole. Sensor Jammer plus Autothrusters can also really shut down many attacks. TLT attacks will be losing one hit on their roll and then facing an almost guaranteed evade result.

The squad’s big weakness is the high PS arc dodgers. While Laetin and IG-88C have some repositioning ability, PS 6 is very middling and most arc dodgers are 7+. Plus Laetin really doesn’t want to barrel roll and boosting a large ship without a turret is less useful than you’d hope. It’s very easy to just go to far with that large base.

Fortunately, the list is completely independent of each other. The three ships can move and position anywhere that is most advantageous as none of their abilities are dependent on the others. They are each just annoying to kill and all move at the same time so can be done in the most advantageous order.

Variations

This list can have a lot of simple variations. You could give Laetin a Heavy Laser Cannon (HLC) instead of a Mangler by stripping Graz’s Stealth Device, something he’s likely to lose quickly anyways. This makes her a bigger threat which can be good if she plays defensively. Similarly, you can throw Graz’s Glitterstim over to IG-88C who might be able to make better use of it.

For Graz himself, you could also switch his Stealth Device and Glitterstim for an Engine Upgrade. This gives him some repositioning ability and might help you keep enemies in arc so he gets his bonus defense die. Also gives you another free point to give him or IG-88C Inertial Dampeners.

IG-88C can also switch out easily with almost any of his other variations.  IG-88A would be good for shield recovery but only useful against opponents with 4+ ship squads. Facing two big ships he’ll almost never use his ability. IG-88D also gives you some options for maneuverability, especially sticking with Adrenaline Rush. While normally IG-88C is the go-to ship to fly of the robots, you need to give him a cannon and that would cost you your Sensor Jammer, which defeats the defensive tone of this squad.
