Kickstarter Korner – The Deck of Many Quests

This just in! Lunch Break Heroes has less than a week left on its Kickstarter for The Deck of Many Quests! Lunch Break Heroes describes their offering as a “GM’s tool” for any fantasy RPG and “Cards Against Humanity meets Dungeons & Dragons, minus the bathroom humor.” (Thank goodness for that last.)

The 200 card Deck is comprised of several different types of cards, starting with fifty Quest cards to draw for a scenario. Other cards are for Items and Creatures to be combined with the Quest card to create the scenario. It does sound like an entertaining way for a GM/DM to come up with a plot for a one-shot session. The Kickstarter page suggests that players and GM can work together to create these scenarios, which might be a fun way to begin a new group.

The project has already made over twice its US$20,000 goal, but every level except Early PDF preview is still available. Minimum reward level is $5 for one printable PDF of The Deck. Higher levels offer physical decks, physical decks plus PDF, and/or multiple copies. There is one add-on, a beautiful set of wooden dice coasters available. The highest level is the $150 Retailer for FLGS owners, for 10 copies to sell.

Lunch Break Heroes doesn’t expect you to pledge sight unseen. A number of the cards are showcased on the page, and there are several videos embedded. The cards do look good, with nice art and are easy to read. Updates also include a few printable cards from each set. Some of the showcased cards make up my featured image.

The Deck of Many Quests seems to be Lunch Break Heroes’ first foray into Kickstarter, and they are also on YouTube and Patreon. Remember, the Kickstarter funds this coming Friday, April, 2, 2021 at 12:08 PM Central Daylight Time, so click the first link above ASAP, if you want your own Deck of Many Quests.

(My cohort Egg Embry also mentioned the project over at EN World.)
