Kickstarter Korner- Forsaken Lands Maps by Christopher West

Welcome to the Kickstarter Korner! In this periodic segment we’ll highlight Kickstarter projects of interest to gamers.

What is this project?

Poster maps of the Forsaken Lands by famed RPG cartographer Christopher West.  This is a new series of land based maps featuring lost cities, hidden treasures and exciting environments.

What do I get?

Maps! Rewards for this campaign start with access to PDF versions of the new maps at the lowest contribution level. For a little more, you can gain access to a larger variety of PDF maps, eventually gaining access to Christopher West’s entire impressive collection of maps. These are all print quality PDF’s so you can take them and get your own maps printed of whatever your campaign needs.

And you, of course, can get copies of the new maps being funded for this campaign printed for you. If you’re going to Gen Con you can pick them up from Chris West himself in person or have them mailed to you. The top tier reward includes top quality vinyl map. The great thing about this option is that they are double sided maps so you get two in one.

Will it fund?

Definitely. As of this writing the campaign has already exceeded it’s $4,000 goal and is well on it’s way to it’s first stretch goal. Christopher West has done a number of Kickstarter over the years and has proven reliable. This means there’s little worry of cost overruns or extended delays. You can back with confidence that you will receive your backer rewards.

Stretch Goals?

Yes, and there are many. If the campaign funds for double it’s original goal, another new map will be added that you can choose from. Beyond that goal is another more exciting one; reprints of the classic Forsaken lands maps I and II.

Why should I back it?

Do you like maps? Do you RPG? If so these maps would be a perfect addition to your games. The great thing about them is that they fit into almost any setting. While certainly more ideal for a Dungeons and Dragons style fantasy adventure, there are plenty of ways to use them in a space opera setting like Star Wars or a modern day setting like Dresden. Every campaign can make use of a lost city or hostile environment. Or they are great as a generic setting for any encounter.
