those are pretty beautiful and look like they work great! I'm going to have to try my hand at it, if I can scare up a ship or two!

Picked up a few ships. I'm excited to get them and start working on them. I think I keep one in hold, so I can have the PCs help design it, since one of them will presumably be their flagship. Cant wait to play this AP!

I got a Black Pearl, and then 3 ships that arent 100% complete, a Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman and the third I dont think is a Mega Blok but it looks to be a caravel style ship. They will need a lot more work than just floors and a repaint and got the 3 in a lot for 25 +15 for shipping, so not terrible. The Flying Dutchman looks to be all there, which is why I bid on the lot in the first place, I wont do too much to it. I had to ebay them, as my local CL hasn't turned up anything. Once I get everything I'll post about what I plan to do. I have a few ideas about themes for the ships, as well as once we start playing i'll do a collaboration with the players on their ship. Im excited to get working on these.
I also got a few books form the library on caravels and they are actually very helpful for me, not having any sort of nautical background. lots of schematics and parts listed out. The names of all the parts of boats is also great inspiration for names for characters. Fun stuff.

Awesome price on those (the caravel might be Queen Anne's Revenge?) Or is it just not a Megablocks ship at all?
In any event, that's a very decent price for just the Pearl. For the Pearl and the Dutchman? AWESOME. For all three?? You scored BIG TIME. Very nice indeed. If you do any conversion work, please promise to post your pics here!

Had one of my future playerrs talk about how he would like to 'map' where they sailed. Personaly, I thought it was a good idea. Thinking back, I could have sworn I heard mention that S&S was going to incorp a KingMaker-like hex discovery (something I liked). If that's true, I think it would be cool to have that AD&D-throwback feel of mapping as they go.

Shackles site is looking good. What'd you use to build out the player character sheet sections? Also I didnt know Hoochie and A-hole were playable classes! Very Cool. I have a google site built but not as filled out as yours. I gotta work on that. Also, got my set of 3 ships, the Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman and the mystery third ship is actually a Black pearl from Dead Man's Chest. http://i.toynewsi.com/g/?mode=view&album=2006_Toy_Fair%2FZizzle%2FPirates_Of_The_Caribbean_Dead_Mans_Chest&pic=100_7345.jpg&dispsize=800&start=20Its HUGE!!!! Not sure its usable really but cool none the less. Has some nice Piratey sound bites built into it. Should be able to fix it up and trick it out to just look really cool. The other ships arent 100% complete but more than enough to use for the game. My second 100% complete Black Pearl arrives Monday. Very excited! I've also started putting together "A Pirate's Primer" with general sailing knowledge or cool pics/inspiration for my players to use. SO much stuff to do! Is everyone buying a tri-corn to wear during games?

ah, sorry about that, I defaulted to private when i created it. Opened it up, as there isn't anything copy write materials up. I am going to try and do this in a high-bred PbP and live sessions with one remote player. You can see in the photos a smattering of action figures and minis, there more pics on the site. This is my drawing table that is still in my sons room, he's 7 months old, so he doesn't mind yet, it just so happens to have underwater themed curtains. Anyhows. My players havent made characters or even concepts yet, but they have pages built out for when they do. I have a trailer form the Pirates movie from Wallace and Gromit up, just for some flavor and inspiration. I'll probably be posting more stuff like that as I run across it. Pictures, books and clips to get my players in the mood/mind set. I bought some balsa/bass wood for decking this morning and a dowel for masts for the incomplete boats. Good times.

I wasn't aware this version of the Pearl ever existed. I knew there was a Disney store version, and the Megabloks version. But I was not aware that this version also existed (unless this IS the Disney Store version). I should have been. Your Big Pearl is, in fact, the one every gamer *really* wants. If you go back to the first page of this thread, you will see that the large conversion and repaint of the Pearl in a lighter brown wood is NOT the repaint of the Megabloks version -- it's a repaint of the big one you have in your pic. Awesome. Where did you get it? The Megabloks version is also on the first page, but it's shown in a darker wood, with an uneven deck on the "sea" mat during in-game use. Side by side, i cna now see that it is a vastly smaller ship model. Now I understand my confusion over the size of the flashing on the stern windows in the light brown model on the Pearl which seemed so much bigger than my own flashing/trim looks. It looks bigger because it IS so much bigger than mine. Awesome find dude. Be sure to kick ass and take names with your conversion of that oversized Pearl!! Pics. Pics and more Pics! I'm thinking the Hurricane King's flagship "Filthy Lucre" is your Big Pearl ship model...

The big Pearl was the 'other' ship in the ebay lot of 3 (along with the megabloks pearl and flying dutchman). It has 6 or 7 voice/sound effects on buttons around a mast and lots of weird 'action' points, like an extendable plank, a pit trap and the hole in the side. It'll be fun to get into. I'll post pics as I go along for sure. Maybe do some WIPs in photoshop of color schemes/paint jobs.
Theres a McFarlane dragon up by the Dutchman that double pretty nice as a leviathan or other colossal sized monster I'll have to work in to the adventure.

I was poking around on the Pathfinder wiki, trying to find more info on the Hurricane King and his ship Filfy Lucre. http://www.pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Kerdak_Bonefistits lists his ship as a Man-o-War, which I then had to look up, and found this really nice graphic with info and cut-a-ways. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1245180/HMS-Invincible-Inside-battle-ship-famous-Turner-fighting-Temeraire.htmllots of crazy trivia, like this ship sailed with 125 large casks of beer, 3 tons of candles and 4 tons of tobacco on board. They had live cattle, pigs and chickens! 185 ft long with a crew of 700+! Not how I imagined things. I've read about Zheng He's treasure fleet from China, they had an armada, ships that just carried water. Is that the size they see the Hurricane King's ship to be? that seems way to big in light of the fact they are not pushing cannons. There isn't a reason to have ships/crews that big if they aren't there to house/fire cannons. Seems weird. I saw that Azmyth is making guns/cannons more prevalent though, so perhaps its to each persons flavor. Thoughts? Also, why the ban on Barbarians and Witches but not Summoners, Azmyth? I thought the unruliness of the Barb fit rather well with pirates, if you drop the fur fetish look. Edge of civilization, lack of education, survival of the fittest? No one from my groups played a witch yet, but been on the bad end of a confused super optimized Eidolon. yuck.
