This challenge I'm throwing down, is to create the most effective primitive race character of no more than five levels.
The categories are Melee, Ranged, Mounted Combatant, and Force-User.
You can use any combinations of classes you like, but high-tech equipment and levels in Jedi are restricted (sorry, this is an isolated character build concept).
Have at it!

For this build, could we choose a near human for the species, even though Primitive isn't one of the listed traits?
Also, is this CL 5, or simply level 5? If it was CL 5, it means we could use some non heroic levels. The force user almost needs that.

A brawler-type Gamorrean. He opts for more reliable attacking rather than extreme damage, using Desperate Gambit to gain rerolls. He also does well when wading into the thick of it, using enemy numbers to trigger the Cornered feat.
I used a 32-point buy for the stats, since that aspect wasn't defined in the initial post.
Medium Gamorrean soldier 5 Init +7; Senses Perception +8 Languages Basic (Understand), Gammorean
Defenses Ref 18 (flat-footed 16), Fort 21, Will 16 hp 80; second wind +20/40; Threshold 26
Speed 6 squares Melee combat gloves +9 (1d8+7) or Melee combat gloves +13 (1d8+7) with Hammerblow Ranged by weapon +5 Base Atk +5; Grp +9 Atk Options Cantina Brawler, Desperate Gambit, Hammerblow
Abilities Str 18, Dex 10, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 12 Talents Cantina Brawler, Hammerblow, Melee Smash Feats Armor Proficiency (light, medium), Cornered, Desperate Gambit, Improved Damage Threshold, Martial Arts I, Martial Arts II, Weapon Proficiency (simple) Skills Endurance +9, Initiative +7, Perception +8 Possessions combat gloves

A suggestion for Point buy would also be good.
And for "no high-tech equipment", do blasters and vibro weapons fall into that category? Is it simple weapons only? What about armor?

Hmm, good points. Since its more of a character concept I'd limit to heroic levels. Use the standard score package stats on page 18 of the Core Rulebook. As for near-humans, sure. I can easily imagine some humans being stranded on a planet and marrying some locals. Sign-- indentWacky

Simple weapons of the non-blaster/slug-thrower type. You could have exotic weapons so long as they're not high-tech either. Sign-- indentWacky

Ok cool. I'll try to have a build or two up for each of those types this week. Out of curiosity, is this just a theoretical exercise, or are you hoping to use this build for an NPC?

I'd especially love to see some options with a Nelvaan that really take advantage of their Shadow Swiftness racial ability. Preferably spear weilding, but other weapons welcome.

I'm trying to get a good feel for "primitive" races in Star Wars. Been thinking of working on a Primitive Handbook ("Backwater Worlds"? maybe) for a netbook. I run an ewok and primitives seem to get little press time-- got little press back in the day. Sign-- indentWacky
