Im actually writing a story (with hopes that it can evolve enough to become a novel or something substantial) that is based off an old campaign I played with some friends. It combines various campaign adventures, some SWG adevntures, and some imagination. But my Character becomes a reluctant leader of a smuggling operation (reluctant because he is very humble, feels sticking your neck out is a good way to get it lopped off). His operation begins to grow as he merges efforts with another smuggler in his area as well as a ship thief. After some time, their ship inventory reaches over two dozen ships, most of the light freighter variety. His personal ship is a SoroSuub PLY3000 that he won in a Sabacc game. One of his fellow smugglers named the yacht after the hand he played to win it, the "Idiot's Array". Some other ships in his fleet were named after EverQuest 2 abilities (my character's namesake in EQ2 was a swashbuckler):

a KDY Starwind called "Swindler's Luck"
a CEC YT-2000 called "Slight of Hand"
a Byblos G-1A called "Lucky Break" (this ship actually belonged to my character's father, my character named it after he used it to leave home)
a YT-2400 called "Charm's Way"
and a YKL-37R Nova called "Rogue's Fury"

I was drawn to this thread in hopes I can draw up some inspiraton to name some of the other ships in my story.

My players have an old freighter they named the Kiron's Dagger.

There have been several light freighters acquired one way or another by my regular group which have been named the Brown Stable.

It's an in-joke for the group; our D&D parties always refer to themselves as the Knights of the Brown Stable, so the first time I ran a 'Star Wars' game for them, I decided to name their ship after them, and it stuck.

Now, if only we could figure out a way to incorporate the name into our 'Mutants & Masterminds' games, we'd be set, but no credible superhero operates out of the Brown Stable of Solitude.

Any craft could have the name Deus et Machina.

In our KotOR era game, we have a transport based on the luxury passenger carrying version of the Starforge Herald-class shuttle, which we named Binary Dawn.

I'm working on a character who is the engineer on a hunk-of-junk cargo hauler that will either be named The Blue Beetle (in honor of Harry Dresden's P.o.S. Volkswagen) or The Patchwork Princess.

Edit:
Since it's a Ghtroc 720, I also briefly considered naming it Gamera or Great A'tuin.

So anybody got any sweet names they've used for their starships?

My players just received a new ship (an Hwk-290) and they now have so many ideas that I don't know if they'll be able to make a decision. Some are fitting while others are just completely ridiculous but i figured I'd post some to start:

The Deserted Dewback

Magna Dragon

The Blue Gundark

Dr. Chaka's Pimp-mobile

The Grumpy Watch Beast

The Gastral Dragon Pearl (they found a pearl in a dead kryat dragon)

Shadow-Stab

and last but not least The Armless Proctologist

First, I have named our ship the Century Eagle in more than one game. (I have no imagination)

In our current game our red neck fringer stole some money from his well to do cousin so they could get off of Rodia, and he decided to name the hunk of junk Outhouse Prime. He also makes sure to say the name at least once a game even if they are no where near the ship.

i have an ex-pirate current smuggler in my group, who called his YT-1930 Pneumonia
