This is NOT the end. It has taken me a few days to recover, but we had a great Pa-Md regional on Saturday. The details can be found on BlooMilk and SWMGamers, but the bottom line is that at a first time regional in a part of the US where Star Wars players are hard to come by, we equaled the turnout of the Missouri regional, a hotbed of Star Wars minis activities. Our regional numbers, if the weekend can be any indication, will be on par with last year's numbers, which is fantastic. Even if you are not a tournament player, that is great news, because interest in the game has not waned.

What can you do? You can be there and enjoy the time with your son. It's too bad that there are 2 things you'd love to do on the same day, but there's no question as to what you should do. That's what my dad always did; he chose me over his other activites and, now that he's gone, I have a lot of great memories and the knowledge that my dad put me first.

My offer still stands to play on Vassal, even if you're not getting ready for a regional.

We did have fun. I'm sure don and the others had a great time too. My day was packed with scouts and mothers day activities...busy busy busy

It's not the end; it's the beginning. SWM and SWRPG will only get better, because I do think the online community knows a bit more than a couple guys at Wizards (no offense, couple guys at Wizards!)!

Between the guys on SWMGamers organizing and running regionals and GenCon, creating and later playtesting as well as designing new cards, and now Minis Mayham creating a scenario team, there are more people now working on Star Wars minis than there ever was within WOTC. With these focused efforts, we'll do a better job as well, unfettered by sales-driven decision makers. The future is bright...and if a new company comes in looking to buy, they'll find a thriving community rather than a dying one. There are rumors already to that effect!

What I heard was on SHNN on one of the recent episodes. Bill and Dean both heard the rumor independant of each other. It is my understanding that the company was interested in both the Star Wars license from Lucas and the WOTC game rights. Neither Bill nor Dean were forthcoming with a company name, or the source(s) of the rumor. Still, listening to their conversation at the beginning of the recording, it was obvious they'd each heard the rumor on their own and discovered on the air that the other had heard it. Since that time, I have heard nothing. Sorry for the vague answer, it's all I know. I just believe that there was a genuine interest from a company which gives me hope.

This is even more reason for us to do everything we can now to show this game still lives...

Onward and upward!
