This is going to be my first MMO, so I'm not 100% sure how this whole "guild" thing works, but judging from the various interviews and stuff that Bioware has put out there, it looks like there will be separate, unique stories for each of the classes. The smuggler will have its own story, the bounty hunter will have its own story, the Jedi, the Sith, etc. However, you will be able to participate in other people's quests. (For example, if you're a smuggler and you have to go pay off the Hutt you're working for, you can bring your Jedi friend along if you want to. But it's still part of the smuggler's "story," not the Jedi's.)
That being said, I know I'll be making several different characters, in order to see as many of these different "stories" as I can. Light Side, Dark Side, I want to (eventually) experience it all. And, because this community is so great, I don't want some of my characters to be "cut off" from it, just because they're in the "wrong" faction. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to play characters on both sides. (Who among us has only played KOTOR
once?)
It seems to me that the guild -- as it exists
out-of-game, on these forums -- may not need to affiliated with one side or the other, but perhaps the guild -- as it exists
in-game -- could have both Republic and Sith "chapters."
Does this make any sense at all? Again, I don't really know much about how the whole guild thing works. Let me know if I'm crazy.
