Yeah, I've always liked the sound of that rank too.

So first Fleet member to Admiral 1 gets to shine up their new "Commodore" pin!

Cool - since I was a Commodore on a trek mush once I just think it belongs:)

Sides - we can't leave Commodore Decker out in the cold and forget about him :)

Suppose once things settle down I'll grab the appropriate pic there and put in my signature.

I think that guy who was the "last Commodore" was the 63rd person to be named a commodore cause who wants to be Commodore 64? :P

On a more serious note, I guess we have a goal to reach for now eh?

Fleet Captains, in the Guild.

"Commodores" are In-Game what I'm calling Admiral Levels Admiral 1-Admiral 5, and are represented by the Icons above.

When you hit Admiral 6, that Toon is then a Rear Admiral, and you can use the avatar icon of your Career with the 2 gold pips on a Black Field. I have no special rank Icons for Fleet Captains, Ship Captains, or Transfer Pendings; you'd use the appropriate Icon for Career+In-Game Rank.

Oh I was confused, I thought the Avatars rank was our Guild Rank. Sorry I was just going on what you had as an avatar, of Fleet Admiral.

also found out this:

Fleet Captain: Image
The rank of Fleet Captain has never been seen in Star Trek nor the US Navy. It was once conferred to Christopher Pike in ST:TOS but has never appeared again. Nonetheless, it is conjectured that if the rank has been conferred today, it may appear as 5 golden pips. According to Starfleet regulations, in any battle field without an admiral, the captain whose starship with the best tactical advantage (i.e. the strongest fire power) shall command the fleet, as evidenced by ST:First Contact and ST: VGR "Equinox, Part I".

Commodore: Image
If future Starfleet Command is to follow the current US Navy command structure, the rank of 1-Star Admiral (commonly known as Commodore) has been withdrawn. US Navy only adopted this rank during the wars, to recognise the most senior captain who lead the fleet without an admiral. The rank is abolished during peace time. The next promotion for a Captain is 2-Star Admiral.

Fleet Admiral: Image
Fleet Admiral is commonly conferred to the supreme Commander-in-Chief in Starfleet (e.g. Fleet Admiral Shanthi, ST:TNG "Pegasus"). However, this rank has never been seen in Star Trek history. Several Fleet Admirals named in Star Trek are only holding Admiral or Vice Admiral ranks, such as the gorgeous blonde 3-Star Admiral Alynna Nechayev.

Okay, just made a Fleet Captain Avatar and added it to the Fleet Commander group on the Avatars page.
viewtopic.php?f=99&t=4368

To fix any confusion, people can use any avatar they like. You can use an avatar for your alt's career and rank, the avatar for your position in the Fleet if you're a Vice Admiral or a Fleet Captain, or both if you want to drop them into your Signature line.

When the game launches, I'll probably have two in my Sig-line; one identifying me as the Admiral of the 66th, and one that matches the rank and career of my primary alt.

I just made them for folks who want them, I'm not demanding the be used.

Admiral,

I did some research on the 21st centrury US Navy and would like to suggest some alternative fleet titles.

Rank 1: Transfer Pending - Transfer Pending
Rank 2: Ship Captain - Ship Captain
Rank 3: Senior Ship Captain - Fleet Captain
Rank 4: Fleet Captain - Commodore
Rank 5: Senior Fleet Captain - Rear Admiral
Rank 6: Vice Admiral of the 66th - Vice Admiral of the 66th
Rank 7: Admiral of the 66th - Admiral of the 66th

Most to the fleet will be 2 and 3 with officers in the 4, 5, 6, and 7 ranks. Rank 7 is a single person, and rank 6 will be 1 or at most 2 people. That makes other fleet "officers" rans 4 and 5, which should give plenty for differentiation. What do you think?

thanks,
Duncan

(And yes, commodore is not in use in the USN, but we all seem to like it.)

The only problem is "Rear Admiral" is already a rank in-Game, that's what the 41-45 levels represent.

The only reason I'm using Admiral for me and Dave is because we ARE commanding a Fleet, and anything less makes sense. The other titles are all mostly Honorifics, and could be argued that they are awarded regardless of actual rank.

Still, it bears consideration.

I still like "Flag Captain", it's a Royal Navy fleet position: the Captain of the Admiral's Falgship.

Admiral of the Fleet
