To be clear, you are discounting and overlooking a key constituency of the "NWP" debates. It is NOT a matter of "yes" or "No". It is a matter of "You can try anything and may or may not succeed without a given NWP but if you HAVE a given NWP, you will have a better time of it, do it easier, and/or be able to perform the task in daunting conditions".
In the most extreme example, the "make campfire" skill is not about the ability to create fire in everyday mundane conditions, but in the rain, with a 40 MPH wind, out of nothing but some sodden clothes, a broken bow, and a pile of flash-frozen dung.
Ummmm, NO, breaking a contract and returning to the original buyer and killing them for "the better money" would NOT be a CG type act. At best it would be CN. Try this for an example.....Dexter.
Showtime Series "Dexter", based on the Crime/Horror novels by Jeff Lindsay that started with "Darkly Dreaming Dexter".Dexter Morgan
is the protagonist of Showtime's Dexter
inspired and derived from the "Dexter" Book Series by Jeff Lindsay. He is a sociopathic serial killer who targets other killers (to control his Dark Passenger). By day, he is a forensic blood spatter analyst with the Miami Metro Police Department. He is the biological son of Laura Moser and Joe Driscoll and the biological brother of Brian Moser, also known as the Ice Truck Killer.
Dexter is the adoptive son of Harry Morgan, the police captain who taught him to survive using the Code of Harry
. Dexter has developed a detailed method of killing that has allowed him to evade detection.
He has an absolute code. (Lawful) he hunts and kills "his fellow" monsters, IE other serial killers. He is devoutly committed to righting wrongs, and doing "greater good" by channeling his drive to murder against the worst of the worst. Specifically those who "get away with it" or those above the law, beyond the law, or completely unnoticed by the law but preying on society all the same. His berserk buttons are threats to children, or his family. Spy. Stealth. Combat, and very specific criteria for targeting and completing a kill.
Is Dexter Evil? Hell no! I'd make him a LG Paladin of Justice (or Vengeance). (or at worst LN)
Smiting true Evil.
Pathologically driven and unrelenting.
Defending the Innocent
(and he loses his "powers" when he screws up until he atones!)
On Cold and Freezing....
The item you want is a "Necklace of Adaptation" "Boots of the North" or a "Ring of Warmpth". While a ring of Regeneration will prevent the loss/removal of frozen bits like fingers and nose and toes, it will not prevent you from freezing, and eventually dying. It will prevent the damage HP LOSS of freezing, ergo not allowing you to lose pieces, but will still allow you to die.
On the Ring, it is not a contradiction, it will not put an already lost limb back, but it will allow you to "keep growing back" constantly being damaged parts. Some DMs have hose ruled that a Regen ring will even go so far (against RAW)_ as to allow a person to technically die while wearing the ring but "come back" from the dead if killed and left unlooted. (Later we developed a higher power "Ring of Trollish Regeneration" that actually would allow that) Then the rest is correcty as far as the Vampiric ring is concerned.
