Just got back from Avatar- bump Watchmen off of my list. Way off. Those other movies had better be glad I didn't put them in order, because most of them would be getting bumped down a peg.

You should still see District 9...you could be bumping something else off that list as well.

I think the Brew City gamers all drank the same crazy juice when it comes to Avatar. Its a good movie and great visuals, but you guys all think its the best of the year?

Really though its just a sci Fi version of Dances with Wolves. :P

What kept me from thinking its best of the year, is I was not drawn into caring about the characters much. Sure the visually were great, but with no depth to it, It didnt make my top 5 list.

A+ for eye Candy. C+ for characters. Story was B- (cliche). Action would rate an A.

It should be viewed in the theatre and in 3D

Avatar, by far and away my fave movie of the year. I certainly felt for the characters, and found them quite deep.

Followed by Star Trek. I went in with mediocre expectations, and was pleasantly surprised by the performace of Zach Quinto and Pegg.

Next comes Wolverine. A lot better than previous X-Men movies, in my opinion.

Then Transformers 2. I was expecting this to be at the top of my list, but just found it a bit too much in places. Bay puts in far too many explosions and not enough about why the explosions are happening. I mean, out of forty robots, I knew about 6 by name and understood how they worked/thought, and 4 of those were ones I knew from the last film anyway. This means that, after introducing over thirty new robots, they only gave us a real introduction/ understanding of two of them.

Avatar was the one movie that I saw this year that left me emotional. While, I recognized the similarities to other movies, I am able to move on and enjoy the movie as it is. Even after a couple of weeks, I can still say it was my favorite movie of the year.

It's only been three or four days since I've seen it, and I'm just about ready to put it on my Top 5 all-time list. As far as best of the year... there really isn't any competition anymore. And I'm going to see it again today! Yay! :)
