Oh no, I agree. Please don't misunderstand me. I am a die-hard SW and KOTOR fan for that matter. And I completely agree that they should do their utmost to get it right in regards to complying to canon. I certainly do not think they should compromise game quality, story integrity or faithfulness to canon merely in order to try to get more people to play the game.

Personally, I just think it would be great if they could try to work some of these things into really good modern SW games like this one, so long as it fit the story, didn't contradict canon, or if it was obvious it was there solely like a joke, or purely for enjoyment.

So, where do we stand now? What nuggets have we been able to glean from the cracks surrounding the released information so far?

Will the race factor be lampshaded and essentially only an appearance element? Will there be any mechanical gameplay significance to racial selection? Will there be racial specific questlines? Will Player language be "autotranslated" and handwaved, or will we be faced with a wider alien lexicon and "subtitles". (Technically the dialog SELECTION being in english is enough for me, the ensuing dialog cutscene can be in Quermian for all I care, un-subtitled).

We've heard literally nothing about this still from official and unofficial sources alike other than "you will be able to play as non-humans." I'm still betting that there will be no PC races speaking anything but basic, and any mechanical racial differences will be extremely minor.

The Tuang founded the Mandolorians. Now (Now meaning SWTOR time) they are mostly human, though the cultural emphasis on adoption being the same thing as being born into a family usually provides for a differentiation on species. Wookiee Mandos!!!

The race I want to be, but they will never add as a PC is Shistavanen. That would be awesome!

I'll be happy as long as I get my Bothan spy.

This pretty much remains all that I have to add to this discussion until further notice.

Humans, Twi'lek, Togruta... all probably making it in. Any races that could share a single voice actor per class and not break canon.

Trandoshans, Wookiees, Gammorreans... not so much.

i was actually surprised at how human Bossk's voice was in the clone wars season 2 finale, trandoshans have as good a chance as twi'lek's for getting into the game as a PC race.

Hmm... actually, if they could run the already-recorded lines through an in-engine "Trandoshan filter" that wouldn't require them to store multiple copies of each line on your HD, that could actually be possible.
