Hey gang,

Ok, I admit, I just read the back story for the first time. So basically we are descendants of Revanchists right? Ok, I can live with that, however given the background and goal of "our people" it does not make sense to have a Dark Side version of the Guild. So I suggest that we create a completely different concept for a DS guild with a different name and background. In addition, I would support revising our back story to focus on the light side rather than on a Unified Force theory. I think we clearly need to state that we are light side followers of Revan before he became Darth Revan.

Just my suggestions for revisions to the Guild vision. I would be interested in having discussions about this. However, if it is all already decided, I understand and will hush up. ;)

Thanks,
Duncan

P.S. Another thought is to have only an affiliated DS Guild rather than an official D20 Radio DS Guild. The 66th Fleet does not have an official KDF counterpart for Star Trek Online. Maybe that would be a good model here. I have found that from hanging out with different people in the KDF Fleet, that we recruited some people for the 66th Fleet. Just another thought.

If I'm not mistaken, Fiddleback was the head writer for the guild backstory, so he would be the guy you'd want to talk to regarding tweaks.

The issue with that is this game takes place 3000 years after the events in Kotor 1 and Kotor 2, if I'm not mistaken.

300, actually. 3000 would put us at the trilogies era.

YEs, that has been a problem for me with Kotor from the beginning. The original Tales of the Jedi Graphic Novels had the look I would have expected for 5000-4000 BBY. To go from that to the look of Kotor I in like 35 years was a bit much. 300 more years and we are at TOR? Sigh. But it still looks good.

Thanks,
Duncan

See, I'm ok with THAT change, because I haaaaAAAAAAAAAaaated... (*wheeze* *inhale*) ...the look of Tales of the Jedi. I found the look of KOTOR much more acceptible for "the good old days".

I just find the look of everything in SW:TOR to be too close to Clone Wars/OT era looks. I get why they're doing it, to evoke a sense of connection to the characters your average player will want to emulate, but it still doesn't sit well with me.

Yeah, there is way too much of the Saga in there. I was the Hoth Generators in the new video, the Republic Trooper is totally Clone Trooper style, the Sith "Empire" appaerently has Moffs (WTF!), just a lot of stuff a bit too modern for 3700 years ago. Oh well, at least it is cool.

See ya,
Duncan

Some suspension of disbelief will be required, but I can't help feel that doing it any other way would have been inferior.

Okay, I personally wouldn't have made it look this close to the Trilogies era... but as far as some of the familiar concepts they're including, I'm all for it.

I have to say that the more and more I see the progression trailers and what not, the more the style grows on me (the more impatient i get too). I thought the same thing initially, I thought, "The Empire?" and "The Emporer?", what the crap kinda rip off is this? But I am actually okay with it now. Think about it, there are some constants in the galaxy far far away, like the tech for instance (as GM Chris on the O66 has pointed out before). Also, I am ok with the "Empire" being the "Sith Empire", or the "EVIL EMPIRE", thats not so bad now is it? I think it was just an initial "knee-jerk" reaction early on that is not really a problem for me at all now. Rember the teachings of Revan, we must preserve the REPUBLIC! After all, isn't that what Star Wars is all about, another one of those constants, regardless of era, some good "republic" vs. some evil "empire"?

I wanted to throw that in, and that I really like the backstory that fiddleback came up with, excellent job with that my man! It really is an awesome reference for anybody looking for a serious place to start forming a meaningful character background within the guild. I just finished replaying the original games (KOTOR I & II), and our backstory feels like a natural extension of them, so I am eager to get my own character's backstory started now. Needless to say, the guild backstory will influence it greatly, thanks again fiddleback!
