Bonethrasher is all about positioning in the fight... Wednesday's group does a pretty good job of it and it shows in the logs... Ronin and Perrian only are throwing down about 800 hps because when Bonethrasher attacks he is almost never hitting more than one person.
Learning that positioning style takes some time and repeated attempts but I've got confidence. KP and EC combine tactics, finesse and good DPS...
Tactical and Strategic awareness are key to keeping yourself and others out of harms way.

Now I really want to fill in on Wednesday, so I can see how it's done correctly.

So...are we doing the same thing as last week? Story mode EC, moving on to hard mode KP and hard mode EV based on the three strikes rule?

Kol and I have already done the first boss in EC with the tuesday ops group so we could show you the 2nd fight but going in everyone will need to know the 2nd fight requires a level of coordination that can only be described as horrific. It's a great fun fight. And for the first time win or fail is almost all on the dps. The dps ' dps isn't the key it's the fight but doing the mechanics right.
My vote would be for kp to polish our cordination.

So, we are obviously not capable of taking down Bonethrasher.
Grumble...grr...growl...frustrated!
We managed to get him to 4% on our best attempt, but the final one we barely made 20%.
And frankly, I'm royally miffed. It's the same people who consistently get hit by the swipes.
Maybe we need to go down to Story Mode so we can get a grasp of the tactics since we obviously can't do it in a life-threatening situation.

I'm not going to cast blame. I was focused on doing damage and staying out of the swipes, so I don't know who was getting hit and who wasn't. However, after 7 tries over two weeks with no success, I'm beginning to wonder if KP HM is worth it anymore.
Most of the group is in a mix of Columi and Rakata gear, quickly moving towards the latter. At this point, the benefits of Karagga's Palace hard mode is primarily in three items - Belt, Bracers, and Main Hand. By using level 51 Armoring and a mod ripped from Columi or Rakata gear, an orange item is just as good as the dropped Belt or Bracers. That leaves the Rakata Main Hand, which you only get for completely finishing the operation. Even if we drop Bonethrasher next week, I don't see us taking down Karagga...especially after the trouble we had with Jarg and Sorno. That makes the Main Hand gear effectively unattainable.
My suggestion is to do a three-strikes attempt on Zorn and Toth in EC next week. We just started using new tactics on our last attempt...and two of our members have been part of a group that has dropped them. It's hard...but the reward is greater than the reward for Bonethrasher. If that fails, go back to EV and see if we can drop Soa again - that at least would give us the Columi main hand as a possible drop. A week completely off from Karagga's Palace would also let us clear our head and approach it fresh in two weeks.
If we do have to attempt Karagga's Palace, I suggest we do three strikes on hard, then switch to normal mode. It will let us see the story of the operation and practice tactics, and (hopefully) give us the satisfaction of seeing Bonethrasher drop.

Having had a couple days to ponder, I am inclined to think that the constant moving around isn't really helping us. It's just serving to kill our DPS more than anything, and has the potential to really hurt us due to the sheer amount of chaos. I did some looking around, and found this post: http://starwarswarrior.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/karragas-palace-guide-bonethrasher-8man-hardmode/Essentially, we would have each of the 4 ranged DPSers sit around the edge at North, East, South and West. I would do Karil at North and Aral at South, for reasons to come later. Tanks and melee DPS just follow the guy around and stay behind him. This spreads everyone out pretty decently and allows the ranged DPSers to get solidly into their rotations, and since it minimizes the targets on the swipes the healers don't have to blow all their energy getting 3-4 people from almost dead back up at the same time. The N/E/S/W position puts the ranged DPSers in an excellent location to immediately take out the pigs when they appear (which is at 80%/60%/40%/20%). And putting Karil and Aral in the N/S positions allows them to CC the cats near them when they appear (one from each direction) and keep them CCed for the duration. Also, one other thing to note: his swipe isn't a 180 degree arc, it's a 120 degree arc.

I think this is an excellent plan of attack... a bit less chaotic(where people contantly move to stay in his rear arc) than how Wednesday night does it. I say lets test it out in story mode and assuming we rock the Rancor switch to Hard mode and try it there.

I say lets test it out in story mode and assuming we rock the Rancor switch to Hard mode and try it there. I'd actually vote on the other way around. It's disconcerting to take down a boss, then switch modes and have to take him out again. If the tactic is solid, with a group that is capable of taking down Soa on hard mode, then we should be able to drop Bonethrasher on hard mode within three tries. If not, that proves we need to go through on normal mode and polish up our tactics. Plus, considering this is a new operation for us, we might have trouble finishing the hard mode op weekly if we spend time taking down the first boss on normal mode - we're going to need that time for the later bosses. I withdraw the request for EC this week...too many of us are ineligible anyway. However, I think we need to start looking at EC Story Mode as a goal for the group in future weeks. If we have time, we can talk about it after the op tomorrow night.

Okay, since no one else is posting about the Monday night operation, I'm going to address the elephant in the room... This is what I found in my email this morning: Quote: Guild News:
Congrats to the PUG team of awesomeness that took down Karraga's Palace in Hardmode... Great job folks! Yes, that's right. A pickup group finished Karagga's Palace on hard mode, when our group couldn't get past Bonethrasher on hard mode or the fabricator droid on normal mode. The NTGYLF group has been running ops since February, which makes me wonder if there are deeper issues with group composition or strategies. Heck, maybe it's me - I think I had the lowest DPS of the numbers compiled by Zeece for Monday night. If that's the cause, I'll bow out in favor of another DPS. But I think we need to seriously reexamine the group at this point. I can't imagine that the problem is gear - most of us have at least full Columi, and several are into Rakata gear at this point. It could be builds, though that didn't stop us from taking down Soa on hard mode. There was some lag issues last night, though the person lagging seemed to be doing fine in his role as a big gun operator. Honestly, I'm stumped. Does anyone else have any ideas about what we're doing wrong? Sorry for the tone of the post, but this has been getting more and more frustrating over the past few weeks. We can't even try Explosive Conflict anymore, as people are going to other groups to try it and the lockout is still there on Monday night. Plus, when's the last time we actually finished an operation?

Your DPS is just fine for Hard Mode Karil.... though I think you had off week cause normally you are higher than that..
Mechanics are a pain... we need to figure out our own strats for various bosses since the wednesday night strats are not good for us.
