Since Game On is no longer in production ~wails~ I was wondering if there are any new and cool games out there that I can go out and procure at a local gaming store for an upcoming game day (Saturday). We have the following: Castle Panic (fun!) Power Grid (Fun!) Catan (Stone Age, regular, space and expansions) Carcasonne Stoneage Formula De I will bonk anyone who suggests Age of Camelot. As a group, euro style resource management games are best, Co-op games that are fun (*not* Age of Camelot) as are non "Risk" F' You games (Risk, Diplomacy, etc). Any ideas Gamer Nation?

I got to try out Ascending Empires and Pandemic courtesy of Kaylilia and Cyril on the last evening of GenCon, and both games were fun, so they might be worth looking into. They've probably got entries on BoardGameGeek that would do them far more justice than I could.

I bought Quarriors as it was a fun dice-building game and I bought a fun superhero coop game called Sentinels of the Multiverse.
Also, I played Yggdrasil at Gen Con. It was a fun Coop game.

Games that I've been able to play recently and would play again: Dungeon Lords Thunderstone Dominion Summoner Wars Dixit Puerto Rico
Games I played, haven't moved up to the favorites list: Agricola Alhambra
This fall I'm hoping to get involved in the board game night at my FLGS, which hopefully be every Thursday. Since there is a huge stock of games, maybe I'll be able to recommend a few more and write up a session report or review.

I'm currently enjoying the FFG Lord of the Rings LCG.

I will echo Pandemic and Dixit. Love those games.
I've tried Quarriors once (Gencon) and it was interesting. I was very tired, though, so I think I'd like it more in a fully-awake scenario.
Also have now played Red Dragon Inn and it is very fun. And I like 7 Wonders.

They've probably got entries on BoardGameGeek that would do them far more justice than I could. Both of these are solid choices. Ascending Empires is just the right mix of resource management, advance planning, and knocking other players back so you can come out on top in the end. Pandemic of course needs to further ravings. Classic competitive game. Kalylia and I also got the chance to try Wasabi on Monday (yeah, that's right, Fiddleback - she made the commitment and bought it ). It's a deceptively simple game that rapidly becomes very tough as you struggle to keep the board arranged the way you want it to complete your recipes while everyone else struggles to do the same. I had a lot of fun with it.

To echo Fiddleback, I've really loved the LOTR LCG (though a shorter title might have been nice). It has all the fun of your average CCG without the blind buy and with a slightly greater dose of sophistication.

Haven't got this on the table yet, but I got the beta rules for "Lyssan" from a Kickstarter purchase. So far I think that I'm really going to like this game. Lots of backstabbing and conflict, but not a classic game like Risk where you try to eliminate everyone to eliminate the game.

Okay. We tried Puerto Rico...well...15 turns in 4 hours of it that is. The general consensus was this was the perfect game for being snowed in for a day or two, and you didn’t want to play Squad Leader. ~looks at the rest of the list and makes notes for next month’s game day~ Thank you all for your suggestions.

Looks like I'll add Pandemic and Ascending Empires to my "search for" list.

Were you guys just APing like crazy? 2 hrs would be a long game of PR. 1-1.5 should normally get the job done.
