Here is the place that we will begin the greatness that will be the Minis Mayham Star Wars Miniatures Scenario list. (Wow, that is a long title!)

Here are my initial thoughts on the Scenarios for the films. More to come, but here is the start:

Part 4 – The Escape from Naboo!

Part 2 – The Bounty Hunter!
Part 3 – Begin the Descent!
Part 4 – Machines Making Machines?!

Part 4 – The Fate of Palpatine!
Part 5 – The New Sith!
Part 6 – The End of the Confederacy!
Part 7 – The Masters’ Battle!
Part 8 – The Breaking of the Fellowship!

EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE
Part 1 – The Plans!
Part 2 – Captured!
Part 3 – Bantha Tracks!
Part 4 – The Tractor Beam!
Part 5 – Cell Block AA23!
Part 6 – For Luck!
Part 7 – Together Again!
Part 8 – Master v. Learner!

EPISODE V – EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
Part 1 – A Little Lost Jedi!
Part 2 – The Wampa Assault!
Part 3 – Spies Everywhere!
Part 4 – The Invasion of Hoth!
Part 5 – The Belly of the Beast!
Part 6 – Strong the Dark Side Is!
Part 7 – Stopping the Bounty Hunter!
Part 8 – The Revelation!

EPISODE VI – RETURN OF THE JEDI
Part 1 – Many Bothans Died!
Part 2 – The Rancor Pit!
Part 3 – The Pit of Carkoon!
Part 4 – Real Quiet Like!
Part 5 – The Speeder Bike Chase!
Part 6 – The Battle for Endor!
Part 7 – Father v. Son!
Part 8 – The Final Battle!

I am looking for help designing each of these scenarios, making them look good, play testing and getting them out there for everyone to use.

I know this is a lot to ask for and I can't pay you a penny, but this will be something incredible for us all to work on together.

Who's with me?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?

Count me in Sir!!

Had a lot of fun putting together the scenario for the contest, not listened to the 'results' show yet (downloading now) but I'm sure that between us we can do a pretty decent job...even if our 'lives' get in the way and it takes us a very long time.

Long live the MMSWMSL!!!

Thank you both for your interesting and enthuisaism (sp?)

I want to give this posting a week and then let's get started.

My vision is everyone that wants to participate takes a "movie". We design the scenarios, hand them off to each other for editing, then playtesting, refining, then finalization.

How does that work for everyone so far?

A whole movie (8 senarios) sounds like quite a daunting task, just considering all the other 'life' stuff that tends to get in the way and the time it took to do just the one for the contest

That said, I'm willing to give it a try

3, 2, 1 Go!

Brev,
How do you see the scenarios rolling from one scene to the next...do you see them as a RPG-like set up where if a char dies then they are gone for the rest of that particular movies scenarios? or do you see them as 8 seperate scenarios with no flow from one to another? either way if fine for me. Ilike when things flow and carry over but also can see the benefit of being able to just pick up any of these scenarios and play without worring about keeping track of things for future reference...
I, for one, would love to play a 6 movie romp that is dictated by what happens in the game but that would be way tough.
I dont have a problem designing these to make them look as good as i can and packageing them together in sets by movie as pdf's or possibly word docs. Let me know what i could do to help and i will. and believe me the "cant pay you a penny" is more then i get at work. :?

and i'll work on any of the flicks, i dont care. and if we get too many volenteers then i'll work with some one or as just a playtester/designer. I'm just eager to help in any way i can.

I was thinking 8 separate adventures that didn't flow from one to another. I want to incorporate what we talked about with using different minis that capture different moments of the films.

Example: Episode I (which I actually do want to take on that movie) - Part 1 "Betrayed by the Trade"...I see Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan, Padawan as the pieces to use. But on Part 5 "The Phantom Menace"...I see Qui-Gon, Jedi Master v. Darth Maul, SA. Then on Part 8..."The Showdown" Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi, Padawan v. Darth Maul.

See what I mean?

I LOVE the idea of getting as many of the minis involved as possible. Change it up.

Now, the vision was each of the Parts would be able to run in 30-60 minutes...with the larger battles going longer, of course (On the Plains of Naboo, The Invasion of Hoth, and The Battle for Endor lasting an hour plus), so a player, in theory, could with a buddy, get throug a movie in a 3-4 gaming session with their friend.

HOWEVER...I do think it would be cool to have the option of a more RPG style session that moves the characters from one fate to the next (i.e. if the unique is defeated in the first session, or too many Stormtrooper reinforcements are called in, it effects the next Part.) I think that would be more cumbersome, but fun as well.

What do you guys think of these ideas?

Sounds like a big project. I might be able to help.

First, let's inventory all maps. We need to figure out which scenes need which maps. Then minis, then we just need to figure each scene out.

We might want to spread this around other SWM boards, to get some help.

these are good ideas...
as far as maps go, I think we need to figure out who is doing what ep. then let them look at the maps, decide and then when we pass them around for feedback that others can put in suggestions on maps or what mini's then that might be a better time, might not, but it might make things go quicker.

or if, brev (i keep pointing to you because this is your baby) or whom ever(Teny,ZD, i'm looking in your general direction) wants to pick maps that fit and post them next to the scenario tittle, it could be a time saver...then if the writer has a different opinion, then they can discuss the need to change map.

mini's will be dictated by the scene - if anyone disagrees with the choosen mini they will have a chance to shoot out thier point of view.

I think the idea of others helping is great - but the help needs to come here, to these boards. Maybe brev, or anyone else, needs to put out the word that a great scenerio project is underway and point them in this direction.

This is all from my point of view - any others?

As far as maps go...

I sent a message to Chris West to see if he wouldn't mind us using his maps for this project as well. I have not heard back yet, but I know he's on va-cay at the moment. We want him to come on our show this Monday, May 31st (that's right, we'll be a day...as usual) to talk about everything he's go going on and talk about this, but no conformation yet.

My vision for the maps on this project would be pretty open to the creator. As a general rule, I would try and use MOST of the maps from the basic, WotC provided maps. Don't get too clever because if there is too much of a financial strain, people won't play them. That being said, I think part of keeping the game is showing a potential purchaser/other players out there that there are ways to change your game and keep it fresh and new...and that's by buying a map.

I guess I think we should, as a collective group of creators here, decide how many maps we want to be WotC and how many we want to use from other creators and how many we want to create ourselves using the map tiles that were free with the starter sets. I would implore us all to consider using as much of the created materials as we can.

As far as other websites go...

Yesterday I reached out to the guys at Star Wars Miniverse, Mark specifically. He said their knowledge of scenario building isn't that vast, however I suggested they could help us with the playtesting/editing process. We’ll see.

If you guys want me to spread this around I will, but I selfishly want this to be a d20radio/minis mayham project and want to keep the “core group” to be the Cantina Rats. Much like V-Sets at SWMGamers all input and ideas will be appreciated and considered, but final say will come from us. I agree with their philosophy of “too many cooks in the kitchen.” (I know, I’m eating crow right now, but it does make sense…).

Therefore, if there are any other sites out there you guys would like to mention this site to and get the playtesters on deck DO IT! If I learned anything from the scenario building contest, you guys can crank these things out quickly.

As far as playtesters go…

We need a general form for every playtester to fill out. Something with some basics about the presentation, squads, game balance, special rules, and a place for general comments – that way we get real feedback and not just “it sucked” or “it was AWESOME!” We need more than that.

I think I’m getting ahead of myself here.

I know I have Joebecker_37 and Obi-Mon Kenobi (and Shadowdragon, yes?) on deck, let’s find if anyone else wants to be a part of this first. Then we’ll have our “Core Team” (we should call ourselves “The Heroes of Yavin” – yuck yuck yuck!) Then we’ll assign general duties to those members, films to work on, etc. If that THY wants to “contract out” a Part for their film, they can feel free to do so, but they will be responsible for it’s ultimate creation.

Also, we’ll need to create deadlines for these. I work best with a deadline. Without one, I’m worthless. I’ll just stay in Creative Land forever.

Okay, more to come, but chew on that information first and let me know what you guys think.

Hey guys.

First, I am ready and willing to help with this project; I get to do some of what I like, and I get to help out the gamer nation!

Second, Brev, I really like those movie ideas, but there does not have to be necesarily 8 scenarios for each movies, and why does each one have an "!" at the end? It just annoys me I guess haha.

And third, I think that this project will be much more maneagable if we seperate the various eras' responsiblities to different people. We could have a sticky thread, for example, for the KOTOR and Clone Wars eras, and the rest. The person in charge of that era would manage each thread, while others give their suggestions in that same thread. That way, we are not necesarily doing everything, (as far as scenarios go), and the rest of the community will get to help.

Well, please tell me what you think!
Thanks, kothandki

I like your suggestion, Kothandki. I really do.

The reason for the 8 parts to each was to give an equal share of adventures to each film. Some of them are stretching a bit, but nothing is set in stone.

The "!" at the end was just to keep the feeling of excitement and adventure. Again, I'm not married to it.

I like your ideas about the KotOR and Clone Wars, but I was thinking let's start with this sandbox first, see what we come up with, help each other make them great, and then move on to the other eras (KotOR, Legacy, NJO, etc.)

I agree...lets knock the movies out of the park and then look at the different era's. I am getting more and more stoked everyday. This is our turn to leave a mark on the game.
I keep thinking of which movie i want and i am undecided. I think the types of battles in the prequels could be cool and different from the more strategy based battles in the original Trilogy. I am thinking that in ep 2 the arena would be fun to make and then in 3 the jedi masters vs palpatine would be cool to orchastrate. but the more strategy minded scenarios that will come from ep 4,5,& 6would be cool and tricky to create.

Excited.

I concur, stick to Brev's initial brief of the movies first, but that is not to stop anyone coming up with ideas for EU stuff as we go.

Brev did mention one movie each but I'd happily just start on EP 1 between us and take a scenario each and start running with it? If it is one movie each I quite the idea of Ep 2 myself, but Joe, happy to pass over the Part 5: Unleash the Beasts! Area Battle if you are stoked about that particular one?

I don't actualy have all the maps myself so would appreciate bit of help in determining which maps to use for each scenario. Lets hope Chris is happy for us to use his maps too.

Perhaps a starting point could putting out the options for maps for each scenario before we start writing the detail?

One of the things that might be challenging is keeping the feel of each scenario along the lines of the movie without straying too close to the mechanics of the Ultimate Missions scenarios, particularly where a map fits so well with the theme, though I don't see a problem in using the same maps as they did.

No by all means if you want ep 2 then it is your (as long as the project manager is cool with that) Like i said, there is so many cool parts that any where you look there is a cool scenario to be made...
