I just got Vassal loaded (with some help-thanks jim/dean) and am interested in setting up a few battles. I have yet to play on line but I am willing. If all goes well I'd like to set up a D20 vassal league with something like a Fantasy Draft (ala fantasty football) with a pool of like 300 points to build your squads. i duuno- haven't worked out the details but if vassal works well for me I think this could be fun...

On a personal note- I got new the other day that i won an art contest for the cover of the Gaming convention in Denver in sept. -Tacticon. I am excited. I have a few small changes to make to the art but nothing too big. I will definetly share a link when the convention catalog is online.

Excellent Joe! Congratulations! As for Vassal, I haven't played in a long time but last night downloaded the new .mod file. Right now what I am reading is that there are compatability issues between players that have the old map list and those who have the new. I was on the fence about which to use so I haven't installed anything yet. If you just got this done then everything must be new, so thats how I'll go.

I really would be interested in that link when you get it...very cool.

Joe, that is great news about the win! Yes, please post the link ASAP!

As for Vassal...I need some help re-installing as well. I am a geek about a lot of things, but computer aren't my area.

This weekend is no good for me, but I will need to get in contact with someone to help me because I too want to start playing on Vassal again. Show off my (lack of) skillz!

Jim passed this thread on to me:
As far as Vassal goes, there is a pictorial how-to on SWMGamers.com. Are you a member on there? If so, here is how you find it:
Go to board index
Go to SWM Gamers Forum
Go to Star Wars Miniatures General Discussion
Go General
The thread is titled 'Vassal! - A Pictured How To!'

The only difference that i saw from the Thread is the .mod file is not where it should be. Try the holocron as nickname has added one there.

I need to make a few small changes at thier request but here it is....Tacticon 2010

That guy looks like my uncle from Philadelphia.

I got on Vassal last night before bed to see if everything was working. I joined a room where a game was being played and synced with another player and was able to watch a game, so I think I'm good to go.

To watch a game, all you have to do is go into a room, click on a name of a person playing and 'sync' with them. (I believe when you click on them a drop down menu appears.) You'll then see the map appear with their characters on it. This is all from memory of what I did the other night. I will double check all of this the next time I get on Vassal, which likely will not be tonight, as 2 guys from Nc are coming up to play in my regional and will be spending the night at my place.

With Teny on this one, Vassal is a completely new galaxy of technology for me, hoping to give it a go so I can watch the Avatar match-ups

I watched most of the first match but was too late for the second. it was fun to see the games in action. I am looking forward to playing a game when time permits.
