Grimoire

So I have a character that is getting close to moving on in his wizard career, but he needs a grimoire. Is this something that is generally provided by the college, or something he has to buy from the college or something else entirely?

A grimoire is a book with spells in it.
My take on it is that it is the book that apprentice started with. In his progression to wizard, he has been copying the spells of his lore into his book.

I took a quick look in the books, and I did not find anything in particular reguarding this.
