On this weeks Small but Vicious Podcast we take a look at those soiled doves and other pedallers who follow the solders around when we look at the Camp Follower career in Career Advice. And we also have a special discussion on how best to introduce WFRP to new players and those who haven’t played RPG's before.

Listening to this now.
Maybe it's just me, but Pat/Schbuda's audio seems lower than usual, making him very difficult to hear.
Edit: Okay, finished listening.
Only seen one Camp Follower in the handful of campaigns I played in, and she pretty much went the "lady of negotiable affection" route with her character, transitioning to Charlatan I think to bolster her "talky skills" since there were already enough bruisers in the party (including my Protagonist/Duelist). Never looked at it myself, as I tend to lean more towards the warrior-types in most games I play, but it does sound like a neat career to start out in, especially with that option to go into Spy.
Sorry Pat, but I'm not involved in the Firefly/Serenity podcast, for as much as I loved the show and the Big Damn Movie, I've never played the RPG.
I for one think GURPS gets far more praise than it should, and would suggest folks using just about anything other than GURPS to run a game. To me, it's trying to do too much.
Closest thing I've seen to a good "generic/universal" system was WEG's D6 system, as it was very simple and could easily be tweaked to fit most genres. Although Savage Worlds is good contender, and I've heard some very good things about the FATE system, which is rules-lite enough to be able to fit just about any genre. Granted, I do prefer Saga Edition for my Star Wars RPG, although D6 is good for one-shots or very short campaigns, as the character progression system was (according to the guys that wrote it) not designed for super-long campaigns; pretty much play a half-dozen sessions, then start a new campaign with new PCs.
Some great advice on getting players to try a new game, and not just WFRP. I know from experience how tough it can be to get some players to try something that is outside of the usual mold; hell, trying to get my standard group to play something that isn't d20-based can be a tough sell.

We have a new podcast out next week. We would have done one this week, but that cultist holiday Valentine's day got in the way.
