Hi,

Like many others of late, I've recently been pulled into Warhammer due to the release of the new system. Why I chose Warhammer is fairly simple; even at $100, it's a much cheaper alternative to D&D 4th edition, it's main competitor (despite many complaints about the price, this is oddly a selling point in the current market!), and seemed to have a much better designed system and layout than 4th ed. Again, as often as it's complained that the new edition seems more like a board game, I find this to be much more true of 4th edition D&D, which ironically resembles a more traditional pen and paper game.

That being said, I have absolutely no experience with Warhammer, it's setting, or 2nd edition. I've been using the internet to dig up as much information as possible about the setting itself, and stumbled across this podcast. Is it possible we will see an upcoming show focused on a more "general" overview of the setting? I imagine that I'm hardly alone in being new to the setting, and some basics on broad story themes in the Empire, how to start a campaign, and a "top list" of adventure seeds would be a fantastic idea for a show. I'm not asking for any specific 3rd edition mechanics coverage, but rather setting information and GM advice from the much more experienced 2nd edition players.

Welcome to the Warhammer forums....a place of grim and perilous posts.

If you can imagine medieval Europe, then you have the general gist of the world.

Most people are poor and cannot read. Life is miserable for most....remember that is usually the reason players become adventurers.

The document in this linkhttp://www.warpstone.org/pdfs/articles/WFRP%20Information%20Booklet.pdf does a fantastic job getting new players into the spirit of the game. There are a number of other documents from this site that are great.

Remember the greatest strength of this game is the background material.
Enjoy
