Sarnos
Genasi Swordmage* (Shielding build)

Stats:
Str 16, Con 14, Dex 13, Int 18, Wis 10, Cha 8
HP 29, healing surge value 7, 10 surges/day
AC 20 (Int +4, Hide Armor +3, Swordmage Warding +3)
Fort 14, Reflex 14, Will 12

Racial Abilities: Skill bonuses (+2 to Endurance and Nature), Elemental Origin, Elemental Manifestation (Earthsoul), Earthshock (listed below), +1 racial bonus to saving throws.

Skills: Arcana +9, Endurance +8, Insight +5, Perception (regional skill) +6

Feats: Hide Armor Proficiency

At-Will Powers: Greenflame Blade, Lightning Lure

Encounter Powers: Earthshock (racial), Flame Cyclone

Daily Powers: Burning Blade

Equipment: Hide Armor, Longsword, Standard Adventurer's Kit, 40 gp

Region: Aglarond

Languages: Common, Draconic

Background: Fleeing the warped lands of Akanul, Sarnos' parents settled in Aglarond and found a measure of tolerance there. Growing up, Sarnos showed a strong affinity for both swords and magic, slowly combining the two through long hours of practice and experimentation. Dubious about the ethics of mercenary work, Sarnos hired himself out as a bodyguard, protecting merchants and tradesmen from harm as he contemplated his future.

Notes: Sarnos is an unusual swordmage - a shielding build that focuses on Strength instead of Constitution. The goal is to acquire the heavy blade feats, to allow him to use Greenflame Blade as an OA and to increase his critical range. With both Insight and Perception as trained skills, and the Aegis of Shielding, Sarnos makes an excellent bodyguard. The bonus to saving throws from Earthsoul is equivalent to Human Perseverance, without having to spend a feat.

* See the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide preview PDF for details on the Genasi and the Swordmage.

Hurika Stormscale
Dragonborn Paladin

Stats:
Str 14, Con 13, Dex 13, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 18
HP 28, healing surge value 8, 11 surges/day
AC 18 (Plate Armor +8)
Fort 13, Reflex 12, Will 15

Racial Abilities: Skill Bonuses (+2 History, +2 Intimidate), Dragonborn Fury, Draconic Heritage, Dragon Breath (listed below)

Skills: Diplomacy +9, Heal +7, Insight +7, Religion +4

Feats: Initiate of the Faith

At-Will Powers: Bolstering Strike, Enfeebling Strike, Lay on Hands (2/day)

Encounter Powers: Dragon Breath (racial) Fearsome Smite

Daily Powers: Healing Word (multiclass), Radiant Delirium

Equipment: Plate Armor, Longspear, Holy Symbol, Standard Adventurer's Kit, 15 gp

Region*: Dragon Coast

Languages: Common, Draconic, Supernal

Background: Transplanted from their homeworld to Faerun, the Stormscale clan of Dragonborn decided to scout out this new world, sending small groups to settle throughout the land and report back on a yearly basis to the clan elders. Hurika grew up in the dangerous lands of the Dragon Coast, her faith strong despite the hardships she endured. Through force of will, she survived and prospered, taking up arms and becoming a wandering representative of the Stormscales. Periodically, she reports back to the clan elders in Tymanther, who are considering whether to relocate the entire clan to one central location.

Notes: This is my wife's primary LFR character. Hurika is designed to eventually enter the Hospitaler paragon path. She uses a reach weapon, and will eventually switch the longspear for a glaive (which will be used with Polearm Gambit and Heavy Blade Opportunity).

* See the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide preview PDF for details on regional benefits.

They lived in Baldur's Gate for many years, finding a small bit of sanctuary amoungst the walls of the great city. Sorn though wanted to find his own way, and sought out an Academy that could rival the legends of the great schools of the Drow. His quest brought him to the door of The Riders of Falcon Hold. He trained with their forces for many years, served as a forward scout and earned an officer's commision. After a time, he was sent to Waterdeep for infilatration training, and there trained under Leask the Halfling. He found a home in Waterdeep, and is usually found now in the company of his Peregrine brothers of the Hold.

The only wealth he possesses is a single gold coin, which he is constantly flipping into the air. The coin was all that was left after buying supplies and Mathenar has begun to think of it as a good luck charm. The beginnings of greater wealth to come.

Abbreviated Character Details
Leflaeon hails from Myth Drannor. He enrolled in a battle college there and took some preliminary classes. One class covered the care and use of arms and armor. The other was an arcane theory class that specialized in the manipulation of arcane energy. Once these classes were over, the students were released for a year to apply and hone their skills. When the students return they will be given a test that will gauge what progress they have made in their studies.

Leflaeon isn't like most wizards who prefer to spend their days in libraries pouring over dusty tomes of knowledge. He would rather be out on the field of battle, studying the practical application of magic. Leflaeon is particularly interested in the defensive applications of magic.
