So there is no errata and nowhere in the main book where it says that a staff must be used 2handed to use it as an implement. Does anyone know if this is the case? It says you can use it as a 2handed quarterstaff if you want. But it does not say that you need 2 for the implement part. I ask because I am playing a character with a staff and a shield.

You are right, I see nothing in the book that mentions having to use it two-handed, but it seems to me that you don't have to when using it is an implement. It makes sense that holding it to attack with your arcane powers in one hand should be perfectly fine, but I don't think it would be possible to take opportunity attacks or anything like that if you are wielding a shield, since the quarterstaff is a two-handed weapon. I just think it would be a little absurd if you had to wield it two-handed as an implement, that just wouldn't make much sense to me.

Thank you! I wish that WOTC would just put this in the FAQ. Lots of people have asked.

I wonder what feat he took to be able to dual-wield a quaterstaff and a longsword...

That looked more like the Wizard Build "DMPC" to me.

In order to get OA's and provide flanking, my guy uses a spiked shield.
