I have been playing a little "optimization" game in my head with some D&D builds and the DDI character builder demo.
I have been focusing on a very specific aspect of certain race / class combos and focusing it for Level 3 with 2 feats and, possibly, a magic item of Level 5 or lower. The idea is to make an interesting combo with certain power and feat choices.
If anyone has any interesting builds, please feel free to post.

Eladrin Tempest Fighter 4 This build focuses on a Defender / Striker build. With the two weapons, this build can mark more than one foe consistently. The damage increasing feats help to offset the loss of +Str to damage of at-will exploits.
Racial Skill: Stealth Racial Power: Fey Step Main Abilities: Con, Dex, Str Class Choice: Tempest Fighter (AV 7) Equipment: Double Sword (AV 9) Feats: Two-Weapon Defense *bonus (PHB 201), Weapon Proficiency (Double Sword), Two-Weapon Fighting (PHB 201), Fey Blades (AV 135) Powers: Ftr 1 At-Will: Dual Strike (AV 7) - Str vs. AC, main and off-hand, 1[W]+4 damage per hit Ftr 1 At-Will: Sure Strike (PHB 77) - Str+2 vs. AC, 1[W]+4 damage Ftr 1 Encounter: Funneling Fury (AV 8 ) - Str vs. AC, main and off-hand, 1[W]+Str+4 damage per hit Ftr 1 Daily: Tempest Dance (AV 9 ) - Str vs. AC, 1[W]+Str+4, up to three targets Ftr 3 Encounter: Rain of Blows (PHB 79) - Str vs. AC, 1[W]+Str+4, up to two targets
PC Notes: Dexterity is important to raise AC and Ref, some tempest exploits provide extra damage based on Dex. Rain of Blows, specifically, grants a secondary attack with Dex greater than 15. Choose exploits that give more than one attack so that you can mark multiple foes (remember, you mark when you attack even if you miss) and get more chances to hit. Because of class and feat choices, bonus damage equals +2 (Tempest) +1 (Fey Blades) +1 (Two-Weapon Fighting). So, the bonus damage off-sets the loss of Str damage with your at-will attack powers. Stealth as an additional skill combines well with the high Dexterity so that you can take advantage of concealment and cover that your controller may throw up.

Elf Wizard 4 This build focuses on making sure that a wizard spell hits when it really needs to. With the combination of elven accuracy and wand of accuracy, this is the closest a PC can get to a no-miss situation. In addition, when foes are not grouped for an area attack, damage for magic missile has been maximized.
Racial Power: Elven Accuracy (PHB 40) Class Choice: Wand of Accuracy (PHB 158) - Encounter, +Dex to attack Main Abilities: Int, Dex Equipment: Bracers of the Perfect Shot (PHB 244) Feats: Elven Precision (PHB 194), Wild Elf Luck (FRPG 137) Powers: Wiz 1 At-Will: Magic Missile Wiz 1 At-Will: Scorching Burst
PC Notes: Keep Dex high for the Wand of Accuracy bonus as well as bonus to AC and Ref. When you absolutely need to hit a creature, use every bonus with Elven Accuracy: +Dex (Wand of Accuracy) +2 (Elven Precision) +1d4 (Wild Elf Luck) [equals a possible +10!] Bracers of the Perfect shot give you +2 damage with a ranged basic attack. This applies to Magic Missile all the time as its special is that it "counts as a ranged basic attack".
Oops, i just realized that this build suffers from MAD (Mutal Attribute Dependency) with INT and DEX. Dex is only good for Wand of Accuracy because INT will probably be higher.

Half-Elf Fighter This build focuses on taking additional powers to allow the PC to mark multiple foes.
Racial Power: Wizard power Scorching Burst Main Abilities: Con, Str, Cha Class Choice: Equipment: Vengeful Longsword +1 (AV 51) Feats: Arcane Initiate, Sideways Defense (MP 139) Powers: Ftr 1 At-Will: Tide of Iron Ftr 1 At-Will: Sure Strike Ftr 1 Encounter: Shield Bash (MP 9) - Str+2 vs. Ref (Shield), 1d10+Str and push 1 Ftr 1 Daily: Lasting Threat (MP 9) - Str vs. AC, 3[W]+Str and marked until end of encounter, Reliable Wiz Encounter: Scorching Burst (racial) Wiz Encoutner: Thunderwave (Arcane Initiate)
PC Notes: Sideways defense helps to improve adjacent allies' defenses (+1 AC) so that you can keep the AC differential to 2, and enemies will still attack you in favor of your allies. Be sure that low AC allies are far away so that if enemies decide to attack easier targets, they will pay for their movement with your Combat Challenge. If a bloodied ally within 10 is hit, you gain the ability punish the attacking enemy with Vengeful Longsword +1. You can mark multiple enemies with the encounter powers Scorching Burst and Thunderwave. Like Shield Bash, Thunderwave can clear off enemies from your allies to give them a chance to maneuver. Remember to take the Intimidate skill (PHB 186) as it can make a bloodied opponent rout early with a good skill check (Intimidate vs. Will+10) as a standard action.

Halfling Barbarian This build focuses on improving defense with Dexterity and racial feats. According to the DDI character builder, this is OK, but the rules say that small creatures cannot wield two-handed weapons, especially those with reach.
Racial Power: Second Chance Racial Ability: +2 racial bonus to AC against opportunity attacks (PHB 44) Main Abilities: Str, Dex Class Choice: Equipment: Grasping Longspear +2 (AV 70) Feats: Halfling Agility (PHB 195), Lost in the Crowd (PHB 198) Powers: Brb 1 At-Will: Pressing Strike (Drag 368) - Str vs. AC, shift 2 before attack, 1[W]+Str damage and push 1. Brb 1 At-Will: Howling Strike (Drag 368) - Str vs. AC, 1[W]+1d6+Str, can use when charging Brb 1 Daily: Swift Panther Rage (Drag 368) - Str vs. AC, 3[W]+Str, gain +2 speed and shift 2 as move
PC Notes: Second Chance and Halfling Agility let you force an opponent to try again with, essentially, a +2 to AC. The reach weapon allows you to keep opponents at a distance to reduce retaliation. If needed, you can use the Grasping power to pull in a foe and gain +2 AC with Lost in the Crowd. Other powers such as Pressing Strike and Swift Panther Rage greatly increase your mobility to control your positioning. With the rage active, you can shift 4 or charge 8 without opportunity attack! With the reach, you could hit a creature 9 away after falling an opponent using the barbarian power Swift Charge (Drag 368).
