A player is wanting to make bounty hunter focusing on a custom bow. Any ideas or builds would be great. A level 4-6 would be good. Race doesn't matter. Thanks.

Hmmmmmmm....
Well, Ewok is so obvious as to be the old-hat stereotype, so I'll pass on that...
Wookiee Recurve / Longbow user could be fun, all pissed at the tech-dependent bowcaster wussies... (str mod bow, durasteel shafts)
Jawa with a tricked out kitbash custom bolt-thrower, like the guns from the Taarrna segment of Heavy Metal... (autofire, explosive bolts, poisons)
Shistavanean night-hunter with decked out competition compound bow (laser sights, rangefinder)
Are you looking for a more DPS build or a Trick shooter with a bag of goodies to rival Green Arrow?

You could try playing a Sakiyan . . http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/SakiyanStats are here . . http://saga-edition.com/sakiyan/I suggest a CT-killer build. It would make the most of any shot the player takes.

I think he's going for trick shooter. He was talking about have different arrow types. Another interesting thing he was talking about was being a force-user, but I don't know how that would be. "Force Directed Shot" (p.33 UR) might be cool, but he would have to be part of the blazing chain.

Although stereotypically they are depicted as blasterslingers, they have more recently been redefined as " Jedi-Type who uses (insert weapon here....to include unarmed) instead of a Lightsaber"

Interesting idea. Its a New Jedi Order campaign so that might work. It would explain why he's in the outer rim using primitive weapons; he was hunted by the empire.

The greatest disadvantage of the bow is its low damage. At 1d6, it’s greatly outclassed by a blaster’s 3d6. That’s why I think making a CT-killer makes a lot of sense. I think a combination of Dastardly Strike and another talent that causes your foe to become flat-footed, such as Easy Prey or Numbing Poison (if he’s using poisoned arrows) would be effective. Actually, the Steadying Position feat can be an even better choice. Combine that with Hunter’s Mark bounty hunter talent, and you have a pretty effective CT-killer.
Also, if he’s a force-user, he can enhance his damage with Battle Strike force power, which affects ranged attacks too.
As for species, Gran is good for the Precise Shot bonus feat, as well as the ability to aim as 1 swift action once per encounter.

If he's Force-sensitive, Shatterpoint might be a good option, as it lowers the DT and can allow you to negate DR if you spend a Force point.

So I tried to make a character here. He's not force-sensitive (but it's not too late to throw in a jedi level to get Force-Sensitivity.) This guy is a CT-killer and controller, meaning he inflicts conditions on enemies and moves them around. His damage is weak. I built him in such a way that he is ready to take Bounty Hunter at level 8.
Gran Bowman CL 6
