not sure where i should post this but... i am starting a edition of d&d that will be based off of the saga edition of star wars. it is for my own personal use and will be heavly flavored by my personal setting. but the question i wished to pose to others is have any of you heard of this being tried earlier, and if so how did it turn out. right now it's mostly in my head and i do not have a lot of time to put it out but the website i have listed in my profile is where i am putting it all down

Welcome to the forums and the GamerNation. If you do a search of the forums, you should find a few discussion threads going over exactly that, and some details from the playtest stages of feedback or notes on the "D&D SAGA Edition" our own GM Chris is elbows deep in. (like 75-90% complete Elbows deep in, I think....) ummmmm....."Great Minds Think Alike"? Don't worry, you are in good company and indeed yes, the idea has been heard of, and charged mercilessly forward with around these parts.

In addition to the thread that Fulon mentions above, also give a listen to the Order 66 episode #118, "Saga Sans Star Wars." They have some great advice and discussion there, as well.

I am being one hundred percent serious when I say that I had to check to make sure that I hadn't made the OP a few months ago and forgot about it. I had the exact same idea. But I never really went anywhere with it...

Lately I've occasionally played 4th ed DnD. The rules for 4e are just different enough from Saga to be annoying. I've considered just using the Saga rules with the 4e stats. I'm pretty sure that what I've actually been playing is a hybrid of the two.

If you were looking for a system to base comparable stats off of, I might look there, first (whether for reference or just for inspiration).

That's what helped me to get a handle on Saga pretty quickly, that resemblance to d20 Modern. Using it, as opposed to 4e, is an idea with a lot of merit.

Is it a non-specific RPG system?

Is it a non-specific RPG system? D20 Modern was the published "Non-D&D & Non-SWRPG" D20 engine used for the following Games: D20 Modern (action hero, supers, survival horror, etc settings, generic) Spycraft (SuperSpy Action/Espionage Games) Farscape (frellin' duh) Stargate SG-1 (where Farscape cast went to keep working) It weas closer to vanilla D&D 3.5 and OCR/RCR SWRPG than to SAGA, but not all the way there in the same ways.
