D'oh! I posted this and then discovered that the irrascible GMChris had sent it to me last week!
Couldn't you just shower kisses down on his eager little upturned face?

PS - wouldn't it be worth posting the 'list' here and stickying it with a link to episode 37 - so it's more easily accessible?

One of my most favoritest episodes along with Tipsy Tips. I am a struggling new GM and just pour over those two. Any other suggestions for episodes to bone up on before jumping into the pool of first time GM's??

So, "The List" was definitely one of my favorite things to come out of the Order 66 Podcast:
Combat Encounter Checklist: 1. Rule of Six (space adversaries at least 6 squares apart) 2. Large Area (2x2 squares of space per character) 3. Provide Cover 4. Provide Concealment 5. Include Terrain 6. Include Doors and lock some of them 7. Include Hazards 8. Include opportunities for Skill checks 9. Include Elevations
I've also compiled two more lists that folks may find helpful...Lists for those relatively rare occasions where the villains/NPCs should be employing intelligent ranged and melee combat tactics (using the foes' intelligence, not the GM's):
Ranged Combat 1. Take cover 2. Aim (2 Swift Actions in same round) 3. Coordinate fire (e.g., Noble with x2 Coordinate + 8 stormtroopers = +28 Atk! Or 2 groups of 4 with +12 Atk each!) 4. Fall prone (1 Swift Action) 5. Use Precise Shot if you have it 6. Use Grenades (poison grenades for environmental hazard) 7. Use Autofire 8. Focus fire on the biggest threats first 9. Flank 10. Make AoO's & avoid being targeted by them 11. Destroy the PCs' cover 12. Allow for surrender
Melee Combat 1. Flank and surround the PCs. 2. Use Acrobatics/Mobility to move around / set up & avoid flanks / find soft cover. 3. Move NPCs even if just to keep the PCs on their toes and guessing. 4. Keep a couple squares away from melee weapon users to prevent extra attacks. 5. Have ½ the NPCs use ranged attacks while the other ½ use melee attacks. 6. Use weapons/powers NPCs are best at, as opposed to attacking PCs’ weaknesses. 7. Have NPCs "work out" PC attack & defense bonuses to know when to use Power Attack and fight defensively. 8. Focus attacks on PCs with lowest Ref defense and/or no block or deflect/evasion. 9. Use trips, grabs and so on, even aiding each other, especially against Jedi. 10. Employ Acrobatic Strike for cinematic combat. 11. Use Block, Deflect & the various offensive/defensive lightsaber/Force-use talents. 12. Don't let the PCs hold still to implement Double and Triple Attack; if the PC does use full-attack actions (double or triple attack, dual weapon mastery) and the NPC doesn't, have the NPC use the withdraw action.

i like those lists Rob. nice. I would posit that PC's should get a copy of those lists as they should be taking advantage of them.

I wonder if any graphic designer-type people would mind making a sort of sample map utilizing this list? I'm having a hard time visualizing how all these elements fit together.

Nice one, Elemental_Elf!
Question: what do the turrets here do? Like, what is their default action, if any?

Question: what do the turrets here do? Like, what is their default action, if any? I hadn't considered that I suppose their purpose would be to protect the Hangar from enemy infiltration (like the way Obi-Wan and Anakin got aboard the Invisible Hand in episode III). My best bet would be that there would be an officer stationed at the Turret Computer, who tells the turrets who to attack (i.e. target the X-Wing, or target all Bothans, etc.). To end the threat of the turrets, the PCs would have to go up there and either kill the Officer, or find some way to destroy the turrets (via shooting or force powers or etc.). I think it would be cool if the Computer was resistant to being hacked. However, if a PC managed to successfully hack the Turret Computer, he would then gain control over the turrets and be able to use them as he pleases. This would also help check off the "Hazards" section of the List, in that any hazard should (have the potential to) affect the PCs and the Bad Guys.
