In my current Legacy Era game, the PCs are hopping around in a former pirate vessel that was called the Night Stalker. They renamed it the Bright Future.
An older game had a Venator-class Star Destroyer stolen by the Rebel Alliance from an Imperial Boneyard, to be refurbished on Dak. They wanted it to serve as a rallying symbol for the Alliance. It only had a twitchy back-up hyperdrive, no armaments, and a half-strength fleet to guard it thanks to sabotage. The admiral in charge of the expedition cristened the ship the Longshot. (After 14 months of hopping around the galaxy, chased by the Imperial fleet the whole way, they did make it to Dak/Mon Calamari. A future campaign may deal with the restored cruiser and it's adventures...)

My gamers were flying in a restored YT-2000 called "The Little Green Man", named for a dwarf of a Rodian that actually owned the ship who was also depicted comicly on her hull. As a reward for saving the heirs to the Empire the ship was recommissioned as the "Pheonix-Hawk" along with a tune up and fresh paint job...

Found my old notes; HeartofJuyoMk2 wrote: Ok, so I was playing Empire at War, Forces of Corruption, and I noticed that the Imperial and Rebel Starships (except Fighters) have names, but not the Consortiium... Some of them are kind of cool, so I'll name the ones I got down. There may be many more, and I'll try and update this list. If the game runs out, it starts to add Roman Numerals on the end (example: Agility IV)

The ship in our post Dark Wars KOTOR Campaign, a modified Dynamic Class Freighter, is named the Try Anything Once.
If you knew the players in this group, it fits them perfectly.

I was in a campaign that featured a pair of Twi'lek crime lord NPC's who were twin brothers. Their two R-41 Starchasers went by the callsigns "Lekku 1" and "Lekku 2."

GT-100 "The Rusty Nail"
Aside from being very slow, and having no shields they are really tough transports.
Fill a rocks glass with ice.
1 1/2 oz. Scotch 1/2 oz. Drambuie Always pour the Drambuie last to allow it to mix with the lighter Scotch.
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and strain into a cocktail glass for Straight Up Nail.

...a small custom interceptor one of my players had was called "Death Gnat" as it was known more for its speed and maneuverability (making it extremely hard to hit) rather than its fairly weak weapon systems...
...the "Jubilee Series Interceptor" (gold, silver, and diamond class) was a series of well-rounded and cheap fighters used by some of my NPCs...
..."K-70 Spike Ship" was an unbelievably expensive terror among starfighters. Despite its lack of shields, it could take a beating comparable to a Y-Wing. It featured the most powerful laser cannons of any fighter in its time, allowing it to pound the snot out of small capitol ships with little fuss...
...the "Palatial Space Yacht" was a generic luxury liner I cooked up for a few games...
...the "ultra light freighter" was designed to be a civilian transport that would transport small, but valuable cargo (such as diamonds)...
...other names included: Bronze Knight (a tough space transport belonging to a hutt bounty hunter), Demon Three (state of the art personal space transport built by a rich character), Exorbitance (another light fighter designed for maneuverability, named after owner), Horus (a heavily armored space transport), Ice Wasp (a modified FireSpray turned into a mobile field base for an uncatchable slicer), Jolt (a modified headhunter with superior weapons; painted blue and piloted by a Cathar bounty hunter), Junky Doom aka "Juukeedoom" in Jawa Trade Language (a piece of crap freighter built by an insane Jawa...in a cave...with a box of scraps...), Kerberos (an advanced military space transport with anti-shield technology), Meat Grinder (A TIE Defender outfitted with a hyperdrive and painted blood red--used by a pirate/ace dogfighter), Molotav Cocktease (the personal starfighter to an obsessed character called Brock Samson), SkyRazor (a P-38 with top of the line shields to carry a Pau'an general about), Warlock (an expansive Gozanti cruiser armed with multiple laser cannon batteries and a droid gunner crew with synchronized fire circuits, making it a fearsome ship indeed), and the Weeang (a YT-2400 modified with a decent weapons suite and holding cells for bounties).

Let's see, in games I've played in we had: The Smoking Dog The Whaling Yankee The Flaming Jawa The Adjective Noun Emerald Morning Kilimanjaro (that was a Star Trek vessel but what the hey, right?) Innocent Cargo Vessel Catholic Express (Catholic in this case meaning universal, not the religion) Raven's Nest (the PC's name was Raven. We ended up calling the piece of junk Raven's Mess most of the time)

In our Restoration Era KOTOR game we've got: * Aeon Harrier: A 578-R Space Transport, which the PCs used to serve on, and bought for a song after the ship's captain retired (a retirement brought about in part because of an unfortunate incident in which the ship flew exited hyperspace in the heart of a protostar nebula * DeadStar: A Gozanti-class cruiser-turned-deep space salvage ship rumored to be involved in shipjacking operations on the side. * Obsidian Phoenix: a pirate vessel operating in the Outer Rim. * The Fallen Star: the personal starship of the Zabrakian bounty hunter Koth. * Infinite Regress: A Ghtrok 720 freighter owned by the PCs (who have formed a company known as known as Binary Transports, Inc.. It currently serves as their primary starship; it was formerly known as the Grey Lurker back when it was a pirate vessel. Our heroes badly damaged the ship in a firefight, and the local planetary government confiscated it. Binary Transport later bought it at auction. The name "Infinite Regress" is an in-joke based on the fact that the Ghtrok looks like a flying space turtle (something certain members of the group disliked; they argued against buying the ship because of that, but the other PCs won them over). It's a reference to the phrase "turtles all the way down", which itself relates to the myth of a giant turtle carrying the world on its back: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtles_all_the_way_downKen

My character's had a few ships in his days: A lone scout named the Silver Claw, After he lost that one due to hmm..technical difficulties he built a custom ship called the Silver Talon Then there was the Lewin's Luck, a highly modified Action VI with a secret hidden in it's tiny (for some reason) cargo hold, the Daala's Legacy a restaured and highly modified Dreadnaught cruiser with armor to rival a Star Destroyer and the guns to meet one in a slugfest...
And before you ask, yes Lewin Suul was a space pirate, shipjacker and all around scoundrel although, if asked, the character would always describe himself as a purveyor of hard to find ships and vehicles and merchant of quality droids!!!

My players have a YT-1300 that has been heavily modified called the Chimopori. -Cargo conversion -4 Heavy Laser Cannons (two turrets, ops and pilot guns) -SR 55 shield modifed to 60. -Maneuvering thrusters, combat thrusters and tech upgrade to dex. A very tough little freighter. The bane of TIE fighters and Decimators everywhere.
They've also recently captured a Modular Freighter called the Charrel which was converted by pirates into a small carrier with some Point Defense Ion cannons and a tractor beam (by captured the freighter I mean, the Chimopori was disabled by the pirates ion cannons and then they turned the tide on the pirates once they were pulled into the hangar).
I've also created some NPC ships based off SWG ships, a Y-8 mining freighter modified into an escort carrier called the Defiant Glory and a heavily upgraded Nova Courier called the Constitution. These I custom designed (before the Rebellion book came out with the Nova stats) and use for the Rebel flagships of their small task force.
A couple of other ships we've encountered:
Unending Justice Liberator Cutty Sark Rogue Spirit Tyrenian Dancer Daedalus Crusader
