We had a unique situation in game. A PC cut some mechanical lines to a cargo lift with a walker on it. It stopped the rise and after a few rounds of threat, it started to shift and fall.
The PC failed an athletics check to get clear and rolled a Despair!
After 10 minutes of searching (we tired to save him) for speeder/ship vs PC collisions, it was rules that he died when the walker pancaked him.
Has anyone had a similar thing happen or had a PC stepped on by a walker? What kind of damage would that do?
S.i.a....

A similar question came up before with someone getting hit by a speeder (maybe on the other boards) and the concensus seemed to be a critical +50

It doesn't have to be damage or death, either. He could be pinned under the debris, he could dive clear but get cut off when the walker smashed through to the next floor down, or even get carried down with the debris.

Personally, I would never kill a character on a single despair. It's just usually not an interesting way to develop the story.

What is this, Shadows of the Empire? Can you really see a hero in one of the Star Wars movies dying like this? C'mon.

I'm with LSP here. Despair means something bad happens that dramatically changes the situation. It really shouldn't ever mean instant death. Critical hit with a major upgrade as crazybirdman suggested? Absolutely. And that roll might lead to character death. But just throwing your hands up and saying 'welp you dead' is a serious failure of imagination.
